I know its not afrihost but they are the same

I sent a sms this morning and they called about half an hour saying that they had auth. issues with mtn and telkom servers and that they endevouring to sort out by the end of today :). Good enough for me :)

There have certainly been ample issues to complain over and feel annoyed about, but this really isn't one of them. The accounts were unshaped in order to establish baseline usage patterns, for what was always going to be a limited time. There was never any promise of it remaining so.

So 75% download speeds the whole month after only using 40GB on 4MBps uncapped is acceptable?

:wtf:

Might I ask how on Earth you derived that from what I said to you, which was specifically aimed at your remark that you "were then promised no shaping on uncapped account"...? How is what I said an endorsement of anything?

That is from a new article.

Your same news article says:
Afrihost is confident that their additional capacity will more than handle the additional traffic, and after a week has passed they will re-assess their current shaping policies.
The official release by Afrihost stated that is was a for a limited time. That period has since expired.

It has been noted several times here that they try to have as little as possible shaping applied, but the cable breakage have meant that shaping have increased to manage bandwidth.

It looks like the Authentication issues, which started last night, got a little worse this morning. We've got the whole MTN team working on this. We suspect the the authentication string we're receiving from Telkom is not correct, which is preventing clients from opening a new session. Authentication is actually successful but there is no actual throughput.

We're slowly getting clients connected now, but the issue is still being looked into. If you have an active session, don't disconnect or reboot your router until we can confirm that the issue is resolved.

If you're battling to connect, leave your router on for now, and we should be able to get you online, just may take a few more attempts than usual until it's fully sorted out.

Sorry for the inconvenience :(

So, I thought I would try get a trial from another ISP in the meantime and Mweb 4mb uncapped trial sounded like a plan. Anyways, got everything hooked up and running, and the speeds are absolutely DISGUSTING!

Neotel Speedtest resulted a 0.20mbps download and 0.74mbps uoload. 0_o

I dont care if Afrihost have issues once and a while; atleast they don't throttle you like a freaking maniac!

Hey Afriman

I got a R150 mystery discount on 1 March, yet that amount was never taken off my bill.

too damn scared to try another ISP account, just in case that is as pathetic a connection as I have now..... luckily 3g works for regression testing for france today

I still cant log on due to the authentication issues, when is this going to be sorted out ,
