Afrihost not working for me this morning. Honestly, this business account has been rather disappointing. I really hope this is just a rough patch.

Anyone from the Cape Town Area please answer:

I just switched over from Axxess 2 days ago because of the shaping and now I see that my download speeds are rarely going over 500KBps at the moment(10mbps account). I was wondering if this was just because of the international issues or are the speeds always like this. On Axxess i got 1MBps/900KBps average?

Here is a speedtest from just a few minutes ago on my Afrihost 10Meg Uncapped Account (No Shaping ATM)

And here is one from my Axxess Uncapped account with shaping applied a few days ago:

Does Afrihost not use the Cape Town IPC because for some reason, my speedtests auto go to Johannesburg??

Thanks

you know that Axxess and Afrihost are the same thing, just different branding, but both run on the same backbone and use the same IPC etc etc

Afrihost's move to MTN has been nothing short of a disaster! We all heard how great the new network was going to be. Then came the teething problems, then we needed to wait for Cape Town and Durban IPC.

We were then promised no shaping on uncapped account yet my downloads are shaped at 75% some times more all the time.

Authentication problems.... Still a sore point!

When will you guys finally see that you should have stayed with IS? From ISP of the year to probably one of the most unreliable.

Unshaped downloads was only for a short period of time

There have certainly been ample issues to complain over and feel annoyed about, but this really isn't one of them. The accounts were unshaped in order to establish baseline usage patterns, for what was always going to be a limited time. There was never any promise of it remaining so.
