Can you drop me a PM with your username and a sample traceroute, or even better email to [email protected] so I can send this straight through to the network guys. Seems very strange and not getting other reports of same :(

Looks like authentications are going through as normal. We got some very clever MTN dev guys to develop a workaround for the issue on Telkom's side, and all seems to fine now. We're still looking into what else can be done going forward, and this has been escalated to Telkom management. With the weight of MTN behind us, I"m sure we'll get this looked into very quickly.

Anyone still not able to connect after rebooting their router?

Logging in fine here, send thanks to the MTN guys (and everyone else involved) working on the holiday.

Dude in all honesty how is this a telkom issue, does MTN not host their own RADIUS servers?

I am sure they do, which will mean that the authentication went bonkers on their side, unless MTN / Afrihost lost connectivity to the dslam, but this was across the country.

I am thinking MTN had a RADIUS failure and needed to get some hardware to fix. Which brings me to the point as to why there was no fall over?

Ex Mweb 4mbps uncapped user and new 4mbps uncapped user since 12am this morning popping into this thread to say hi. Looks like I made the right choice switching to afrihost. Before I signed up I did phone Afrihost regarding my data usage and told them I would get close to 400GB some months, 200GB other months. Reason is I watch everything online, this being netflix, hulu and youtube and the odd 10GB to 100GB download. Your tech support told me I would be very happy here and I currently am, but I will give a update in the middle of the month and the end of the month regarding shaping.

Why would MTN need radius servers? arent they just the backhaul provider?
The radius servers should be in Afrihost's server farm/data center, while the programming of the ports and the transmission from the port to MTNs backhaul will be provided by Telstra and Telstra equipment.

I'm sure that is where everything has gone wrong. Where Telstra hands off the data to MTN.

Just my 2 cents.

I think Afrihost has their RADIUS hosted @ MTN. But the point is how is this a telkom issue?

Authentication isn't a single process, it's involves Telkom, MTN and us. Telkom recieves your request first, and based on your username (realm) you are assigned an IP address from a specific range, which allows you to get onto the network. The request is then sent to MTN's radius and from there to our radius.

It seems like Telkom initiating string is missing packets, which is why authentication is accepted but no session is opened and there was no throughput. We've implemented a workaround to address this, but ultimately we need to find out why this is happening. We've sent this onto to Telkom management.

Afriman. I'm still having problems as I rebooted
my rooter and still can't logon

What speed should i be getting to international servers? How do i trouble shoot this?
