Has someone tested battle.net latency from the MTN accounts?
Guys,
Need to really THANK YOU for all the feedback, it's really helped us identify issues that we needed to get sorted before tomorrow. So far we have managed to sort out the PSN issue (which got me very worried - I need to FIFA online, dammit!). The Battlenet issue should be sorted out very soon, we're told this is a routing issue which should be fixed pretty quick. We are still testing on the Xbox Live issue. I was able to log in with my profile without issues, but we'll do more testing and downloads to get this sorted.
We're also checking out the WoW and GuildWar's problems that were reported, but it would also really help if guys who are NOT having these issues would post, to give us an idea of where to look for the problems.
Thanks guys, you've been brilliant![]()
FFS, the switchover is tomorrow and they're still 'working on an alternative'???
Don't be cheap - subscribe to a proper international news carrier. Its well worth it.
Impossible right now... I still cannot connect to battle.net in any capacity whatsoever.
My experience with the MTN test account has been pretty much flawless, and I am excited for what tomorrow may bring. But I won't lie to you, right now I am pretty nervous about this battle.net thing. If nothing changes, come tomorrow no one will be playing Diablo, WoW or Starcraft. I literally cannot even get to battle.net's website right now.
As AfriMan has said already, they are aware of it... But I have this clock going "tick tock" in my head and its getting louder with every hour that passes.
Speaking of tomorrow, any idea what time the changeover will take place? We talking 00h00 tonight?
UPDATE: I can now get to Battle.net's website! Woohoo! Unfortunately I'll only be able to test latency tonight.
Anyone else been getting full speed today on Uncapped?? My 10mbps Uncapped Account is running at 1.067MB/s constantly since this morning 11:00.
Almost done 18GB so far today (4hours and 50minutes)
Hit the pause button there. Some of us would like a chance as well...
I have to download as much as I can today. From tomorrow the News Server is not going to work anymore.
Getting full speed on mtn account..... 4mb downloading at 527kbps
Where does Afrihost get their support staff??????
I requested my line sync to be pushed from 4MB to 10MB to check what sync I can get.
My first ticket was closed with the response that Telkom needed to upgrade their exchanges and I must wait, even thou I have confirmed with Telkom themselves that my exchange supports 10MB.
What kind of answer is that to give a client that knows his exchange is 10MB enabled.
With my second ticket I was told to phone Telkom myself to ask them to upgrade my exchange to 10MB. I mean WTF?!?!?!
How difficult is it to understand that my exchange is 10MB enabled, I just want to test my sync before upgrading.
Also, my line is with Afrihost so why must I call Telkom. That is what I'm paying Afrihost for!
Your support staff is letting you down Afrihost.
This is some of the worst answers and support I have gotten in a long time from any supplier.
Afrihost said:Good day XXXXXXX
Thanks for your business
I would like to give you some information regarding you slow internet connection.
I'm not sure what communication has been conveyed to you before so I would like to apologies for any repetitive information in advance.
Please note that ADSL is, as much as i hate using these words, a best effort service.
Telkom's aim is to give the 4 meg as far as possible, but this is not always attainable.
Thats why it is described as a UP TO 4 meg profile.
There are so many factors that could influence the line so they can not guarantee that the client will get 4 meg.
For instance if your house is far from the exchange then the suitable speed to stabilize the line would be 3072kbps.
However in future this will change with the Telkom upgrades to 20meg up to 40meg high speed sometime next year.
Regards
