What is this? it is 8 am and I am still downloading at full speed. Has the new IPC kicked it, has afriman overslept or did they throttle the board leaders?

Getting 6 - 7k/s here, only thing that stopped was usenet downloads, and no tampering off, just bam, it's dead. Like you would expect from throttling. (or as they call it, QOS)

I totally agree. How dare he flaunt how well his life and internet is! He must suffer like the rest! :)
 
I wonder if there isn't a capacity issue on the telkom backhaul between wherever you guys are and the IPC in Joburg...
 
It's really interesting that it's always relatively from 8h00-9h00 until after 23h00 that the downloads (http/port80) suffer. That seems like shaping between certain hours rather than QoS? Or does everybody jump on at 8h00 and only switch off at 23h00, every day, except most weekends.

Dude there is definite shaping between fixed hours regardless of usage on the network. It too much of a coincidence when so many people have the exact same shaping periods
 
I am getting confused because Afriman keeps on telling us how much more capacity they have on the network, but then on facebook you get this type of response:

So which is it now?
 
So it looks like our Leaderboard caused quite a stir ... still no guys claiming their titles? Maybe they worried about a hostile reception ... ;)

Just wanted to make a comment, saw a few guys doing their own calculations, especially on 384 Uncapped, and saying it's not physically possible. Remember that some people don't match their data to their linespeed. We have many clients on 384 even though their lines have been upgraded to 1024kbps, meaning their upload jumps to 512kbps, which is higher than they should "in theory" be able to download. Just a note, so if you apply across the board, guys on 4Mbps with 10Mbps lines, etc, it might give more insight to how people might be squeezing out the TB's.

Again, the whole idea was never to insult or make light of the very real issues we are all facing, but I still get a mild shock when I look at how much guys have managed to download. I promise 100% that they are not staff and not on special shaping policies that give them an advantage.

It seems like in terms of QoS things are opening up a bit. IPC hasn't been "lit up" yet, as someone mentioned. I think they would pour a bucket of cold water on me if I was sleeping through something like that! So it's more likely that whatever trend was pushing demand so high has eased off, and now there is more to go around. Just to give you an idea though, even with QoS in place, torrents & NZB's eat a sizeable chunk of the capacity (somewhere between half and a third)
