Afrihost Uncapped DSL Feedback

If I upgraded from 1meg business to 4 Meg business uncapped what would be deducted on the 25th?

PS, I have a 1 Meg account with 2 Meg line for 397

For upgrading the actual Business Uncapped account to 4Mbps, you will be charged R1. :)

The DSL Line component will only be charged once the DSL line regrade goes through, so I can't give you an accurate idea of what the pro-rata charge will be yet.

And how long will the line upgrade take? Should take 10min if you guys have access to the system.

How do I select a bundled product in the client zone? I only see products without lines when I want to upgrade.

You will upgrade your DSL line and Business Uncapped account separately, our system will then update the Bundle for you. :)

Upgraded from 1meg to 4meg yesterday, running like a goddamn dream. It hits 400KB/s instantly on BT.

A bit cheesed off that im now back on interleaved mode. Ill have to contact Tza

That's awesome to hear! :D How is the latency looking?

However, at the end of the day, we don't charge clients for upgrades until they are implemented, so there is no danger of paying for something you can't get.

That isn't my experience. I previously had my line upgraded to 10mbps and paid for that for two months despite not being able to achieve more than 4.5. I currently pay for 4mbps and and consistently cannot get over 2.1, this despite 3 logs for poor performance. According to the Telkom tech that came out 10 has never been possible and 4 is unlikely.

I was advised on the last one that the line is synching at 2559kbps and the call had been closed. The agent obviously didn't think that a line set to have the potential to deliver 62% of what I pay for is GTG.

:(

AfriMan was referring specifically to our system tha will only start charging you once the DSL line regrade has been completed.

If your DSL Line can't actually run at the speeds that you were paying for, we need to look into this. If the DSL line can't reach 10Mbps then the upgrade should not have gone through at all.

Could you PM me your DSL line number and I'll check what's going on.

Line number PM sent.

The 10mbps upgrade went through and I was billed. When I realised I didn't have a snowball's of getting 10 or anywhere near it I called the support line and I was advised to downgrade which I did on the client zone. That caused the system to unbundle my line/bandwidth and I have since been charged for line and bandwidth separately. This despite the fact that my invoices show a line item labelled "4MB Line + 66GB Capped bundle".

On checking what's involved in unbundling a package vs changing the line speed on the client zone I am 100% confident that I did not unbundle it. Since I downgraded line speed I should have remained on a bundle and since my invoice said I had a bundle after downgrading I believed I had one.

Through slackness I didn't properly interrogate what I was paying Afrihost for until I experienced billing chaos from late last year. On querying it I was told variously that I was due a refund, was not due a refund because the problem was just a mislabeling on the invoice and that I was responsible because I unbundled the account myself. I was also told by two Afrihost accounts people that I would receive written confirmation of Afrihosts position on the matter. Unsurprisingly, more than 2 weeks have elapsed without any feedback whatsoever.

Thanks for clarifying. :) In order to edit your package, un-bundling has to happen. That, coupled with your line syncing lower than what you have been paying for, we might be able to work out some kind of retrospective credit for you, but we'll have to investigate this a little further. I'll check in with AfriGenie and see what he has found so far. :)

Does this count for capped as well if i upgrade from 20 to 200 for R1 ?

Unfortunately the R1 Steal promotion is no longer in effect. :( We'll be sure to let you know when we run it again. :)

Haven't heard anything in 8 days. Is there any feedback?
