Afrihost Uncapped DSL Feedback

Noticed some really bad pings/latency on AH again to international and sometimes local. Keep switching my router to my AH account and when pings are bad, back to the backup account I have which doesn't have the problem. Anyone else noticing high latency on AH accounts again ? The problem seems to rear its head every few months. Definitely not my line as other accounts work 100%.

That hasn't been a general problem in the North region. Have you got any examples I can look at? :(

Ill run a few tests and send them to you, but I am in the East :p

Thanks! Generally things in the East have been decent as well, so if there is something off we need to figure out what's going on.

:( I'll follow-up on this with AfriFella as soon as he gets in.

Its now 12 days without feedback here. This takes total wait time on this issue to 1 month with zero forward movement. I have been told by Fanie, Wendy and Afrifella that they will get back to me but so far that hasn't happened. Please let me know if I am wasting my time here?

We definitely want to get this resolved for you - but it's best if the guys with all the info follow up so you don't have to repeat yourself. Will check on this for you :(

So who do I talk to about getting my line back to fast-path from interleave? I'm bundled with Afrihost so I assume you guys? Never had an issue with my line to warrant interleave...I like the extra 400kbps but screw this extra 40ms though...

I wonder if my line going down last week and then getting a Telkom technician to fix it at the box may have caused this?

It's not something that we can change from our side. Were you moved to a MSAN by the Tech?

Hi, I'm trying to get feedback on a line issue that I've logged more than a week ago: Ticket. YUI-993-90062
Fault reference: 160AWK010317
Afrihost reference: AH20170222-341548

My DSL link is dropping constantly. This has been going on more than a week. I have asked for callbacks , I have sent emails, I am just not hearing anything back.

I just checked on the fault for you, and it looks like Telkom has assigned the fault to tech, we're just waiting for them to give us an ETA for when the tech will be dispatched.

Thanks. I dont understand though. The issue was raised a week ago with Telkom and the technician still phoned me on Sunday to say they are looking into it?

Unfortunately Openserve often have to juggle multiple faults and there can sometimes be enormous workloads in certain areas. :( We'll do our best to expedite this for you.

Had issues with my line Thursday after a rather hectic windstorm that turned into a very wet rainstorm. No lighting etc, just wind and rain. It stuffed with my line so I reported and Afri Support logged it for me. Today (a saturday no less) there was a Telkom Tech at the little box around the corner and my line synced at 10MB again and all the line stats look good !! However it is so slow it feels like 56k Dialup and that is with both my Afrihost and backup VOX account. Downloaded a GR Wildlands patch and it was bouncing between 10k and 700k and the average seemed to be around 120Kbps. So when I got the telkom SMS saying the issue was resolved I replied No because with perfect line stats, it should not be this darn slow.

Which Afri person can I mail my Ticket Number and Telkom Reference to so that this isn't closed and remains an issue. Can't do anything with these speeds and the latency on the line. Maybe you can push it to Critical Care so that it really gets taken care of ? Those crit care guys are super sharp!

That's very weird. If you getting full line sync, you should have more decent speeds. Drop me a PM, or better yet an email on [email protected] with the tests you've run as well. We'll see what we can do from this side :(

8 days ago Afriman was going to check into my issue. Foolishly, again, I assumed that meant someone was going to get back to me.

We are now at 20 days with zero feedback from Afripeople other thank to say that I will get feedback. That's pretty poor by any measure.

Heya snave. I'm truly sorry to hear about your ongoing trouble. Please check your PMs for a reply from me.

Taking 20 days to completely miss the point is impressive. Your pmail, like all of my interaction with Afrighost over the last 4 or 5 months was a waste of the time it took to read it and reply. It typifies the contempt with which I have been treated by Afrihost perfectly by not addressing the points that I described in detail here previously.

Afrihost has gone from being a company that i actively promoted to one I don't trust. Congrats.

Could one of the #AfriTeam confirm for me please,

Afrihost now have their own Google CDN cluster, and now no longer rely on Mweb for Google content.

The IP address range for the CDN cluster is 169.1.3.140-169.1.3.158 from Durban.

Do JHB and CPT IPC's break out to local clusters, like DBN?
