I upgraded this morning and downloaded a file, is it supposed to reflect on my five gig cap or what? Because I'm worried that I might be charged for both my five gig and uncapped account

i took the 384 uncapped today. i dont do torrents or news servers. just want it for browsing and downloading videos from youtube. so far so good. always at 40kb/s. upgrade process was pretty smooth as well barring their authentication issue this morning.

I think you might...
I upgraded this morning from 10GB to Uncapped (384k). I didn't receive an invoice so I called their support line. They told me that both my uncapped and 10GB account would be active for this month. I've got both accounts active in my ClientZone with the 10GB one having bandwidth deducted.
Bit cheesed off by that :(

Gian said "If your current package is greater than your Uncapped package then you will pay nothing and we will carry that credit forward and deduct it from your next month's payment."

Check his thread for reference: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?223127-Afrihost-384kbps-amp-512kbps-now-available

That would explain why you didn't get an invoice. I don't think it is anything to worry about, probably just a cosmetic issue in the clientzone with the 10gig meter still showing.

so, sitting on the 4mbps...

first day, and so far no major complaints... getting a nice solid 400+KB/s off Rapidshare :)

will see how badly the shaping/throttling affects me, and will then make a decision regarding whether to keep the account or not (this is to be read as hopefully the whole 60GB thing gets revised up considerable)

Can you guys please give me some feedback regarding speeds of the 384k line. Axxess people complaining they get only 10kbit/s with torrents and 20kbit/s via http. It seems afrihost is shaping the least? Got a 10gig account atm. i am going to download like +-30 gigs max a month cuz i am mostly away on business but i am not going to leave the pc on the whole time to download.

10 kb/s with torrents would be a dream, I am on axxess 384 and I am lucky if any torrent even connects. and if it does, it downloads at less then 1 kb/s

Signed up yesterday for Afrihost's 384k. Non-web related stuff is shaped pretty hard during business hours but when they release it at 5pm it performs like my capped account used to. Only been one day though so I'll give it time before I judge but I'm happy so far.

Definitely incorrect - Mweb is month to month.

If you choose to go the Mweb route through Openweb you have to sign up for 12 months.
