Afrihost Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

can anyone do a traceroute for me to google.com on mweb? I want to see if they are riding the IS train like Afrihost...

mweb are riding their own network.. they're now a Tier 1 ISP like IS and gawd forbid, WA

Great. It's nice to know we have more "choice" - not everyone reselling the same thing. Afrihost = IS, MWEB = MWEB, SAINET = Neology, Digichilli and screamer.. some home made contraption no doubt.

Tier 1 in SA terms... :p

But yeah, in the strictest international terms there are only 10 Tier 1 ISPs in the world.

MWeb is MWeb and always will be, they can't repair the damage with this one product. With the speeds posted her today I am confident, the little man, Afrihost will do me well...

You realize its the same network right?:P

My 3 torrent downloads officially downloaded less than 100Mb over night :-/. Kind of lame if you ask me. Anyone else have horrible torrent download speeds?

Mine were fine... I pulled about 1.5GB overnight on a single torrent. When I tried to max the line, I was getting an average of about 196 kB/s (I'm on a 2MB/s rate limited line due to distance from the exchange). Browsing was fine. Mail was fine. XBox Live was fine. Podcasts were fine.

All in all, no complaints :D

:-/ maybe it was the torrents i was pulling, but there were more than enough seeds and not alot of leechers.

Online Backups

All of this uncapped bandwidth makes we want to look into online backups again. Anyone got some good suggestions?

Ya did a little testing last nyt.. was pulling 1 rapidshare (free user), 1 megupload (free user), 3 torrents, streaming lastFm and browsing.... Working like a charm!!

Tested torrents this morning and they sit under 20kbs, meh shaped bad? think it was crappy torrent... Played COD4 a lil and latency was around 30ms So i'm HAPPY!! :D
