Hi,

Just wondering why my ADSL account has already used 10% without having actually switched to it yet this month??

Is this over usage from previous month?

Thanks

Yeah, happens when you stream a video or music but normal browsing don't go that far.

sorry to hijack the tread ..

Idea for Afrihost clientZone: Add a time what you did the update for the usage graph. That way we can see what is there and with the bandwidth monitor you are using see what is still to come.

Hope it makes sense.

That's most likely because you went over last month by 10%......
I got a message when I was capped that I went over (overuse) by 7.465MB and this would be deducted from my next cap.

Personally I think it's complete nonsense as no ISP charges you if you are able to slip over by a tad.

No

I haven't been on mine either....

That may be true but no other ISP is selling their data at R29/GB either.

I am a new Afrihost client but have had ADSL since it's initial introduction and can only congratulate them for their product and service quality.

Yip.. I can attest to this. It happens to almost all Afrihost subscribers who download stuff close to midnight at the end of the month...

Why? You pay for what you use. So some of your usage rolls over into the next month due to system/technical issues. It's no big deal. At R29 per GB, I can deal with this. And it's not like Afrihost are stealing bandwidth from me. It's just a technicality. And they've said numerous times that the only way to ensure long term sustainability of these prices is to keep the admin costs to a minimum. So just deal with it, or go somewhere else and pay R50 per GB so that your capping happens instantly on the dot at 1GB, or whatever.

This is a great idea. I'm sure they have this data available already, and just need to display it... I will email this to Gian as a suggestion.

Hey Guys

Well other ISPs add the cost into the possibility of you going over! If we added R10 to what we charge, I am sure we could also give some lee way. However at the moment, our budget is tight to offer a perk like that.

Hope this explains everything!

You guys always find something to complain about :D.
These guys have started the broadband war for us.

Thank you AFRIHOST!!!

PS: @froot send me your address, I'll post you the money for the 7.465MB. :D (which is R0.21). :D

Was not complaining at all. Just asking a question. Afrihost is the best ISP in South Africa by far!
