I have it on very good authority that the 'throttling' issues with AH will be resolved soon, hang in there guys it'll come right soon :)

Canceled on Monday, still deciding who to sign up with, will probably Mweb

Resolved as in "gone" or "tweaked" to throttle everyone at 10GB instead of 15GB/30GB...? ...and how soon is "soon"...? At the end of the month when all the heavy downloaders have already cancelled and moved?

Sorry, but as no-one from Afrihost bothers answering queries anymore, you're "it".

Also going to cancel, going to mweb, if Gian from afrihost just gave some feedback I might have considered in staying but no word from him/afrihost concerning their future plans.

I cancelled, says cancellation pending, but because they're losing me as a customer, think they just locked my account because they can, and to free up bandwidth for other clients who are staying on. Top notch business ethics!!!!

Make sure to cancel before 25th though, otherwise they will force you to pay for an extra month.

i also canned my cap acc. not sure where to go yet. Maybe nexusISP or else mweb.,

Cool, thanks for the response. Yeah, I use max about 6 or 7 GB a month and have no issues. But anyway I think the throttling issue will be solved by Afrihost soon, it's still very early days for uncapped. So guess I will stay with Afrihost

With usage below 10GB it makes sense to consider the Axxess unshaped offers for R19/GB. They don't say anything about top ups though...

Used 36GB in 7 days, got an email about it, and a takedown notice for torrenting :(

ha ha ha, according to AH they were having a pow wow with IS today to discuss the throttling thing and what they can do to resolve it asap. That's all that I was told this morning. I'm pretty much going with MWEB month after next, I believe in giving AH another chance/month so will see what happens.

Very nice package from Axxess. With Axxess, (I used to get local only from them) you just upgrade your account if you run out, so you are paying the same rate for top ups. Following month it reverts back to the original account you signed up for.

Back to topic: I cancelled at the end of March, when the the throttling was announced. Shaping I can live with, throttling is a no-no. Moved to Mweb.

Just beware Axxess are not committing to that pricing. So in 2 months they might raise it back again and you will get a nasty surprise . Granted R25 p/GB is still cheap, but then Afrihost with their random R14 p/GB specials and a "certain" R29 p/gb pricing is still a more stable / longer term option imho. The Axxess special seems to be just that , "a temporary special" .

I agree with one of the posters, if Gian or a representative from Afrihost kept me in the loop with some comms about plans for addressing the current issues, i would probably have stuck it out. But as it stands, they dont really leave me with much choice but to cancel and move elsewhere.

True, but Axxess also let you cancel without giving a months notice.

True, but then again, the R29/GB AH deal is also a 'special'. And if the Axxess price goes up - you can just move to the then cheapest option.

Hmmm... So are AH saying that the throttling is coming down from IS? I doubt this as the other IS resellers don't seem to have this issue.

The more likely explanation is that AH underestimated the amount of bandwidth they'd need, didn't buy enough of it, are oversubscribed as a result and have had to apply the brakes as hard as they could as all their bandwidth got b*tch-slapped by a GB-starved account base.
