Afrihost's Pure 5G

MTN was doing maintenance last night, which caused a problem this morning. The traffic is returning to normal now, however we are experiencing a backlog of clients that are not mapped correctly. Please do not reboot the router, we have NOC actively working on restoring the connection as soon as possible.

Y’ello Colleagues,

We are experiencing a network issue pertaining to VoLTE services.

Engineers are investigating the issue. Update will follow as soon as more information becomes available.

The router is stuck on 3g but cannot connect - I won't reboot as you advise.

MTN Engineers are still investigating and working to resolve this as soon as possible. There has been improvement in certain regions and parts of the network but no overall network recovery. We apologise for the inconvenience you are experiencing.

I see from today the 5G network seems to be down? It only connects to 4g.
 
Are these tower locked? Can I take it with me on holiday for example?

They are location locked. If you do go on holiday please send us a message to update the location for you before you go and update the location again when you come back.

Can you confirm that all the Pure 5G packages have a 1TB cap? Even the unlimited package?

Yes. All of the pure 5G has 1TB fair use limits. The Unlimited package doesn't have any speed caps so that will run at whatever speed the tower/router can handle until the 1TB fair use policy kicks in.
 
Does anyone know whether these packages would be decent for gaming/streaming? What's the performance and speed like?
Unfortunately I don't have fibre in my area and my VDSL line has become terrible so I'm considering signing up for this.

Depends on where the towers are. How many people are on a tower etc. We have clients that use it for gaming. MTN LTE and 5G from us run on our own network it's only the last mile that is MTN's RAN network.
