Afterhours work in your area

The concept is simply a service/app which allows residential customers to request technical support on demand in their area after hours.

My bad if the Uber analogy added confusion.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh :D Me understands now. Me also interested :)

Some ideas:
Since most of the residential userbase might not have a smartphone or be needing technical assistance because pc/internet/phone is bust it might be good to have a call-center booking option that uses the same interface as public users
The call-center option might add an overhead,so maybe add a 10% assisted booking fee
Also a rating system based on areas of expertise and number of resolutions might be good

Yeah I've heard of Uber before. That particular sentence didn't make sense. Well, to me at least.
So the idea is to help/support Uber app users in my neighbourhood  Or am I once again missing something here?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Waldon is expanding the service to afterhours pc support, good idea :D

Great ideas, thanks. Will definitely be looking into them. Rating & screening system is a given.

I already do this at times, but I never charge. I hate charging people, once you start charging people their all future PC problems becomes yours. :(

Some other things to consider:

A format & reinstall is sometimes required but people do not always have the correct software & licenses. I refuse to load on illegitimate copy of Windows or Office (some people seem to think Windows includes Office) :/

Sometimes one needs internet access on the spot. I needed to help an elderly lady to install her HP printer on a new laptop the other day. The download was going to take FOREVER on her Cell C 3G stick. Luckely I could download the driver on my phone much quicker and could copy it to her pc that way...

Sometimes one needs to phone a SP's call center for assistance - not sure how many operate after hours. E.g. the person has forgotten their adsl or email password...

Sometimes new hardware is required e.g. router got struck by lighting, RAM is faulty etc.
