Aion online.

the korean version of the game allows you to buy hours and not per month, this is a much better approach for casual players such as myself. It will also allow you to play multiple games and do other real life things as you do not feel the need to use your monies worth.

although i don't they will do the same for us and eu since they will make less money this way. if they do I hope wow and other companies learn from them,.

Nooit dude ... pay-as-you-go? Not a chance. How will you ever enjoy a game when you know you're paying for every footstep you take. Going exploring or just lurking in the forest etc. won't be fun anymore because you know it's costing you money. Paying once off per month makes much more sense. Imagine how acid okes would get with you if you wipe in a raid etc. because rerunning it costs everyone money. :(

Thanks chief ! I'll go have a look-see...

I woud really like to know if this game's worth it. Cause if its another one of those k@k games that has all the hype but only lasts for 5months i would be very pissed off e.g. AoC, Warhammer.

:( just watched a trailer on youtube... i want i want. /me pre-orders client

I bought it off Steam last night, impulse buy.

Downloaded 8gb's throughout the night, only to wake up this morning to check before work.. and see - Aion (North America).

So, hopefully I can change to EU, or at least the ping will be ok..

Check your settings in the Launcher - you can set it to Europe.
Enjoy!

If you don't have a beta key,go to the Aion bonds site and join. It is a private server in its beta stages. Private servers are not just started. The game must really be worth it!!:D
The private server allows you to create a character and to explore the environment. Check my screenshot I posted on page 4. This was taken on the private server. Beautifull:cool:

Im enjoying it although I havent reached the magical 10th level yet.

Hope the stair problem and some of the quest text are fixed before the release date

Stephen, please could you give a mini review here on gameplay stuff please :) im really lis to know how this game is.

yeah griddy, for sure. But i dont have a beta key so if i get the client and i could only run around and not try anything out.

I played last night on a friends open beta account:

First experiences of Aion:

Level 1-8

* Opening music awesome, I likes it, has an epic feel to it.
* Bad usability - log in screen gives you no indication of progress, if it fails to find the server it throws you out of the game

Character creation is decent however you are unable to use you mouse to scroll between option making it a manual process

* Graphics - Wow clone, nothing special if not worst, WOTLK area in wow's graphics may even be better.
* Questing system, wow clone with the nice benefit of interactively finding objectives on the mini map by right clicking and saying locate.
* Minimap is not so great, i don't quite like it. I hope they allow addons where people can change things.
* Map, its nice and easy to use and is viewable while playing.
* Mob's are easily killed, (remember this is begining levels).
* Gameplay is smooth, items seem similar to wow and has a nice gem/enchant type socketting from common drops.

So far nothing special.

Oh no,please don't go that route. I know Wow is the biggest MMO but when Wow was first released they had taken most of the features from the popular MMO's around and combined them (Everquest). I myself use to play Wow. Lately I find the game monotonous and a bit boring. Aion is a refreshing break to Wow. It definitely contains common MMO elements similair to Wow.

Most fantasy MMO's will always have a Everquest /Wow feel to them.

Shot for some info. What about gameplay? Is it the same style as wow (right click on the mob) and you attack and then use your skills or more AoC style?
Are the skills decent? Also, how was latency? Did it effect youir gameplay badly?

same as wow (game play style), Questing u can slightly feel the lag but it only usually matters end game.

@griddy, the game aint new its been out in Korea for a while, I was mostly disappointed in the graphics and not being able to swim, that is uber dumb, felt like guildwar's where you couldn't jump.

What I am pleased about is the "spell combination's", that is a cool feature.

I only really been playing from Sunday :) but i am enjoying it.

Character creation lots of options, character models are beautiful.

The landscape i have seen are not as cartoony as wow , but not like AOC.

THere are no mounts, but with flying/gliding maybe its not that important.

Same as the other mmo's with the click and use skill, but I like the skill chains.

I know the scout had skills which would have extra effect depending on your position.

I dont know how gear instensive this game will be - so I cant answer that.

They have the same type of quests as the norm, but I notice with the main storyline quests they have these cut scenes

I didnt notice any bad lag for me (even in bad South African context), but you might be at a disadvantage in PVP which they are touting for this game
