Aion online.

Open beta is only open to people with keys, ironically.
You can pre-order the game to play in the beta, which starts on Sunday.
 
Aion Beta keys were available just prior to the launch but sadly no longer.

As of yesterday it seems as if the Beta Game Guard server is down in preperation for the EU game guard server wich I believe will be up in a few days.

When this happens I do not think that you will be able to use the Beta Client and will need the Rev 1.5 EU/US version.

Seeing that more South Africans are becoming interested in MMO from NCSoft, I can assure you that your socks will literally be blown off by the superb graphics and sounds !! That said though, I personally prefer Lineage II as it is an "almost real" feeling that you have when playing. Aion is a bit too much like World of Warcraft in my view, but excellent none the less.
 
I saw a few in game videos of flying and so on ... but what is the character movement freedom like?

In guild wars you were limited by contours and the inability to jump/etc. I know you can fly in aion, but is it comparable to wow in that sense?

EDIT: On the BTgames info page it says you can fly through clouds and climb sheer cliffs...not sure if it's predefined routes you climb or completely open-world.

BTW, does anyone know where to get the CE? I see the normal one's selling for R359.00

I have an extra beta key if anyone wants to try open beta. But you have to have the 1.5 client. First PM gets the key. Got the key from a give away on eurogamer.net.

LOL i dont think there is beta keys for Aion available anymore. The game gets released on 22 or 25 september. Just go to BTgames and pre-order the game.

I wonder if there will be a package like Lord of the Rings Online had, where you pay a crapload for the game, but get a free lifetime subscription. I'll buy it in that case, but I won't pay a subscription fee. Subscription fees make me feel as if I'm forced to play the game because I'm paying for it.

I think BT is sold out on the CE. :( Try Look & Listen or CNA or Take 2.

I'm ordering the Regular Edition & will just upgrade to the CE via NCSofts webpage (the store). Sites down for maintenance, but you can purchase the CE Pack, which will give you the same stuff had you bought the CE here.

I think it will be a Pay Per Month kinda thing... Its slightly cheaper than WoW though. Personally I think its worth it.
 
the korean version of the game allows you to buy hours and not per month, this is a much better approach for casual players such as myself. It will also allow you to play multiple games and do other real life things as you do not feel the need to use your monies worth.

although i don't they will do the same for us and eu since they will make less money this way. if they do I hope wow and other companies learn from them,.

I understand that concept, but that puts some gamers who are hardcore & play more than others @ a disadvantage.
 
I've been walking around on the Aion Bonds server - all I can say is Wow:D - no pun intended. I couldn't join the beta because the patches are too big to download.

I can't wait for Aion to be released. I hope the game cards will be cheaper if u buy them direct from NCsoft.

BTW does anyone have a local hosted link for the Aion patches and client.
I got client version 1.0.2.11 and patch 1.0.2.14To1.5.0.1 from BT games but my game doesn't pick up the patch. I can repair my client to version 1.5.3. This allows my to connect to the beta server but gameguard bombs out.

IF I could only fix GG aswell..

Any help will be much appreciated;)
