Air Coolers vs aircon

Aircon works well in most places but uses more electricity. also for it to work well doors and windows need to be closed.
an aircooler also works well but not as good as a aircon, it is a lot cheaper to get a aircooler and uses less electricity. with this best results are found inland, in costal areas it is not as effective. another advantage is you can keep windows and doors open.

the aircooler basically puts more moisture into the air, it takes the hot air, uses the water to cool down and passis it out the other side, no irritation to eyes etc. an aircon however does not do this and tends to dry out the air giving the dry itchy eyes etc.
 
IMO a more accurate term for an "Air Cooler" would be a humidifier.

If you live on the coast, getting one of those will make things worse.

As Electric said, an air con is more effective. I'd rather pay more electricity and run my portable than be permanently drenched in sweat because of an air cooler.

Edit: I live on the coast. Even though it's a tiny bit inland, it still gets humid. Saying all that though, I've heard that they actually do help in dry climates. I haven't experienced this myself though.
 
An air cooler is not a humidifier.
I have an air cooler.
You add water to a reservoir and can also add ice to a separate reservoir.
It has 3 cooling settings and an ionization button.
 
They help a little but aircon is much better.

We use misters at factory doors and air coolers in some of the factory rooms but this is because an aircon does not work very well when you move the air out of the entire factory about once every 3 minutes.
 
I've got both. I would not even waste money on an air cooler.

Yeah try running one in a room with the door not completely open ;) And I firmly believe that ionization button does nothing except light up a green LED.

EDIT: But yes, I get what you are saying, they are not made with the purpose of being a humidifier. They just inadvertently become one.
 
It's most certainly acting as a f-ing humidifier after a while.
That's for sure.
Unless you have a ton of ice to keep filling it's just pushing hot air around.
I normally leave every bloody window open as well when I use one.
Maybe that's the problem :wtf:
 
Also I would bet it's not more economical on power or not even worth a mention considering the difference in performance.

Only real problem with an aircon over everything else is the installation required.

A fan adds more heat to the room though so when you aren't in the moving air zone it's actually hotter.

There's a good reason air conditioners have all the really hard working bits outside.

Air conditioners have the units outside because of the heat it produces. And usually, I'm in the focus of a fan when I switch one on :D
 
Hi .I read somewhere that for indoor air coolers, windows have to be opened else the pump might fail etc and also if windows are closed, no cooling takes place .actually I also want to use air coolers with windows closed, bcoz with windows open , all dust comes inside..
1. having said that , which is better for me : air cooler with windows closed or a tower fan?..which will do more cooling..?.
2. Is it safe to use air cooler with windows closed..?

that is fact .fans create heat by slicing the air

We have these in all our rooms

On almost24/7 with good insulation in the roof sometimes gets cold enough that you turn them off in summer. Also whisper quiet. had them 2 years zero issues

Ohh.this looks a fairly innovative product ...do I need technician to install it or it just sticks /vaccums etc to the roof..? (Like is it portable) ..and it cools more than normal ceiling fan., how different is technology from normal ceiling fan..?..retractable, I guess bcoz it can be used as light also ..

You install it like a normal ceiling fan. I did all mine but if you not comfortable get an electrician
