Aircon insights

Around 25sqm...all open plan and a passage leading to the rest of the house. North facing home but normal sized windows with blinds and curtains that I keep closed during the day.

The outdoor unit sits on the south side of the house under the eaves so it doesn't get any sunlight.
You are right at the edge of what a 12k btu aircon can comfortably support.. you would be better off replacing it with a 18k btu unit..

You made me doubt myself, and I went to check now - it is an 18k BTU unit.

any freeze up issues? normally this would be sign of low on charge
Not that I could see, everything looks fine from the little that I am able to see.

In that case, possibly a leak and refrigerant is running low..
It’s been pretty mediocre since we had it installed, I always just figured it was maybe me getting my hopes up too high as it was installed in the height of summer. But now I am thinking that maybe it needs to be looked at by a qualified company

If it wasn't installed properly, the leak could have happened during installation..

But yes, let a reputable company come out and have a look at it..

Yeah think I need to try this rather.

Here you can see the target temp vs. achieved. Almost 12 hours of continuous running and it didn't even get close to the set temp of 22 degrees. I will add that our house seems to be badly insulated, but I am planning on putting 175mm Isotherm in the ceilings as funds allow.

I am in the market for a wall mount split 12000btu aircon for a small room. Makro etc has some good deals, but these days you don't know what is good or not anymore....
ANY advice is welcome, thanks.

I came across this brand Sirair, they seem to be a local company (most likely with an OEM in China).
Does anyone have any experience with them?

Some deals on Takealot for the 12k BTU with UVC filter for R10200 and the 18k BTU for R14k:

I know these are not Midea, but a good deal I think.
I wonder how many AC's, heatpumps, etc these okes move in a month.

Oh, I see the Midea is cheaper still.

Tempted.

Followed this thread for a while and the heat last night made me pull the trigger. Ordered the 12000BTU Midea Breezeless WiFi Inverter from Sucasa Air for R12k installed.

We've been enjoying it, especially with this heat wave we're in. Its mounted right above our bed, and we keep it on all night. Energy consumption is great as well once the room reaches temp.

My 9000 BTU portable Aircon by GMC should be here tomorrow. I'm looking forward to putting this well reviewed unit to task. 2 year warranty and excellent customer support sold me.
