Ajax curtain outdoor sensor issue

I have a newly setup ajax system. I am having an issue on the side of my house where there is little to no activity.

It is an Curtain Outdoor Jeweller.

It constantly sets off the alarm during the day, but seems to be fine during the night.

It is mounted at exactly 2.4m and out of direct sunlight as recommended.

I first had it mounted on the opposite end of this wall, and assumed that the beam was going beyond the house and being set off by the trees.

First thing i did was set it to Near mode, which is just about the length of the wall (8m) but the issue persisted. Next i trimmed away from the tree where i thought it could be obstructing. Still the same.

I then mounted the sensor on the opposite end of the wall facing the front of the house.

There are no obstructions.

The tree in the picture is about a meter away from the house.

I have set it to Low sensitivity

I then sat for about 20 to 30 Minutes watching it while armed and it triggered the alarm for no reason that I could see.

As a final test i swapped the sensor with the same type that is mounted at the front of the house, and that sensor did exactly the same thing.

So i have ruled out that its not a faulty sensor, but what on earth could be triggering it?

Any ideas?

Not the tree triggering it?

Maybe worth having someone inside on the phone at the alarm panel and walking around outside in front of it and seeing where it triggers?

Since you say it triggers seemingly by itself not maybe some kind of interference or short on the wiring?

When you had it mounted on the other side was it the same wiring?

I've tested it by shaking the tree as much as i could while it was armed but it didnt set off the alarm. I trimmed away on that tree to clear a meter from the wall as well.

It is quite a narrow curtain beam, according to the manual it only spreads out at an 8 degree angle from the sensor to the end of the wall.

It is a wireless system, so that rules out the wiring issue as well.

Very confusing.

Random way to just rule out some problems.

Stick some insulation tape over it so that it can’t possibly be the sensor causing the trigger.

If it still happens then something is wrong somewhere else, possibly it’s triggering the tampering protocol or something like that.

If it stops then at least you know it’s a sensor detection problem for sure.

Are these intended for outdoor use at all? The word curtain tells me it’s meant to be inside.
