Alcohol and nicotine.

Day 6: Going for a lekker long hike today. Minimum 10 km, maybe 20.

Day 7: last day of week 1. Did a 10 km beach hike yesterday, got a bit to much sun, but needed it.

I'm also cutting out sugar (especially alcohol) and wheat. On day 5 now. I'm by no means overweight, the only place I have excessive fat is on my hips. According to my house doctor it is due to my insulin resistance, so abstaining from sugars for a month to get rid of the handles.

Not a good look being 1.93m, weighing 82kg but having hips like a hippo. Disproportional to say the least.

I think Pick n Pay are gonna run out of Tuna if I continue this diet.

Down 2.7 kg for week 1. Was aiming for 3 so that's 90% of target.

8.3 kg to go and five weeks to do it.

Milestone yesterday - Gym measured me at below 30% body fat for the first time in a while :)

Day 12, seem to be stuck at 85.5 now.

Yip, found the first week is quick (for a daily drinker) then it slows down.

This is just an anecdotal theory, but when it stalls for several days, pig out for one day. The body seems to reset itself and start that rapid loss of week 1 again.

Nah.

What happens is your body tends to want to hold onto fat cells...

So it empties out the contents of some fat cells (you lose weight)
Then it starts replacing the fat in some of the cells with water (you stop losing weight, but you carry on losing inches)
When it decides it doesn't need those cells (a week or two later) it then starts dumping the water and destroying the cells (your weight loss kick-starts again).

Plateaus are normal. Just keep going through them.

Interesting, thanks.
