Haha...classic.

Well peeps, all I can say is that I am in love.

That little 1.4T engine pumping out 125kw, 250 N torque and combined guzzling of 5.8...its a winner. I drove the white one and the styling is something else. Just get up close and look at the grill, the mesh. It screams 'drive me!!!'. Performance wise I was very pleasantlly surprised. Ive driven a number of 1.4T cars (Rocco, Megane Coupe, Audi A3) and that Multi-air takes the cake. So responsive! Driving position is also great. Felt super comfortable. Its smooth and I didnt see a bump so I went flying over it. I think the sales lady peed her pants a little. lol

I love the dynamic setting. As soon as you put the car into Dynamic it puts its serious hat on. Everything immediately tightens up. Becomes so much more responsive in every way.

Interior, I have seen better but still, its beautiful. I have one or 2 issues with high gloss parts that will probably scratch but should I get it I will treat it like a princess. Also, although the seats are very comfortable, I wasnt extatic with the cloth used. Then again, it was a blue/grey effort. I would def go for black cloth. Leather costs a whopping R12k!!!

Overall, there isnt much you need to add to this car. It has multi function and an arm rest as standard which is an option on the A3 Thats already a 4k saving right there.
17" rims as standard are sexy as f#@k. Doesnt have cruise control as standard which is a bit of an issue but not the end of the world.

Im really considering this now. I love love love it! Most fun car I have test driven in the past 2 months!

Fully agreed, the qv for in the giulietta doesnt warrant the extra price tag...not like it does in the mito.
The interior is not that great, but the drive is very very nice!

Lets get the alfa revolution going!

Oi leave the QV alone :)

:)
I love it, dont get me wrong..but I think the 1.4t m/a is the best bang for buck.
For the QV price...u can start looking at the Megane RS, ir even wait for the new focus RS

BTW, the megane RS is a beast of note!

Ah I just can't see myself driving any Renault or Ford - no appeal to me whatsoever. The alfa (and the Honda cr-z) appeal to me on a primordial level :)

So, the most I have in terms of discount is R7500 and the exclusion of the R3500 on the road fee. Do you guys realistically think I can get more considering its a brand new car on the market? After all, I'm sure Alfa are desperate to push cars.

AFAIK Arnold Chatz have sold about 70 Giulietta's year to date. The exclusion of the R3500 on the road fee isn't really a discount whatsoever :/

Ja, I know it isnt a discount but at least they will drop it.

70 Giuliettas is good. At least I think it is. Thats why Alfa Nelspruit will probably beat the price ;)

The only thing that is killing me is that if I order one it will only arrive in 4-6 months. Thats a damn long time to wait...

I could not wait that long... Waiting 2 weeks for my new car was bad enough

What's the list price of the car, along with the extras you've specified if any?

It is a little, in the sense that licensing & registration, along with pre-delivery valets and gifts and whatnot, is still a not insignificant cost to the dealership. Sure, not R3,500's worth, but probably in the region of R1,500 to R2,000.

Are you serious? I am planning on buying mine in July, does that mean I must order now?

List price is R279k. With some extras that I have chosen it will cost about R283k excluding the other fees.

Effectively, I want to tell them that I want to pay not a cent more that R270k for everything or im walking. I think this is reasonable-ish

Yup, either that or you can get the floating stock that usually has unnecessary expensive extras. Also, they will need a minimum R5k deposit.

It's not unreasonable... they might want to bargain for another R1k or R2k; I suppose it depends on how charitable you're feeling. That being said, keep in mind that ordering a car will not safeguard you against any price increases in the 6 months you're waiting for the car. If you've decided that it's the car you want, considering a car that's immediately available might not be the worst option...

I wish I could grab one that is immediately available. That would be great but the issue is that they dont have a white one for under R300k, let alone at R270k

I guess waiting will also allow me to save a bigger deposit. Although I will put many more km's on my current car and it needs a service in 6000km's. BlargH!

Well, I suppose you'll have to place an order then. :p

Make sure your sales exec knows that you'll consider other cars that become available in the interim. Sales people like to have a list of people for whom they can steal their colleagues' cancellations.
