All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

I am getting quotes for a 12kW (3ph) Inverter / solar system. Originally, was keen on Sunsynk, but some suppliers are coming back with quotes for a Deye inverter.
I know that they are internally the same, but if I went for a Deye, would I be missing out on anything? Is the integration with software / loggers and things like Home Assistant better/worse with the Deye vs Sunsynk?

You'd actually have a harder time integrating HA with the newer Sunsynk logger. There's more support for the old logger which is the same as the Deye one. If you're planning on getting solar assistant then it's moot, it'll work with either inverter irrespective of which logger...
 
Remind me again which batteries you have (sorry) - different batteries count cycles differently (although the 'standard' is a full discharge and charge)
Hubble Am2 - most of the time they're above 50% - but - when loadshedding strikes at weird times / weather/ etc - it drops to about 35%.
 
Do you think Solar Assistant can read the firmware of the batteries ,etc if connected directly to them? I saw the stable update had a comment saying support latest Hubble firmware. This implies that they are reading it.

It would be cool if they could expose it in the web GUI. May save needing to get a RIOT

They can read it to an extent - that's how they are able to read the cell voltages cycles etc - for most BMSs the data is standard - there might be Hubble specific things though that SA can read if you plug it in as well

I ask as I don't see anything on the SA web site for my hubble

I've got a RPi4 that I want to use and the main purposes is wanting to monitor / display statuses on a tablet/phone.

It seems like both are able to do that. Is there any distinct limitations in the Home Assistant integration to Sunsynk vs the Solar Assistant?

I'm no expert on this but I think solarassistant is paid for and provides live logs. Also theoretical better support.

Home assistant is free but can be integrated with more things, but no commercial support.

Solar Assistant is specific to your solar installation and everything around (Inverter, Solar, Batteries) - it allows you to change settings (some) - etc.

Home Assistant is is a home automation platform that integrates various solutions (e.g. solar assistance, alarm, weahter, IoT devices, etc) into one place - and create logic off of them to automate your house, e.g. use solar/weather forecasting to adjust your inverter settings, send you messages when batteries are low, etc.

If you mean differences in monitoring your solar system, then as mentioned by xrapidx and Fcon, Solar Assistant allows you to change some inverter settings remotely, & the readings are almost live. Just using the Home Assistant integration alone there is a one minute delay in the readings from the inverter.

SA gives you near real time feedback (1-3 seconds) - switch on kettle, watch the gauge jump. Very useful for automations that prevent your inverter from tripping if high draw appliances are running.
 
Looks like both the SD cards I bought (same type) are having weird issues right now. I picked up another one earlier and it's working fine.

They do need a backup/restore operation, especially seeing it runs on notoriously unreliable sd cards.
I must admit I've had little trouble with SanDisk and Kingston. My Maxwell gave grief, but SD card brands and Pi issues go a long way back.
 
Now I can see the cycles :( Rather high considering - 1.5 cycles a day on average. Assuming it started at 0 when installed.
I have Freedom Won. The cycles shown on the battery BMS had to be / 2 and * 0.8 to get accurate full cycles for warranty purposes.

Yes for some batteries only (listed on their site)
 
Quick question. Minimum number of panels I can gooi on a 5kw? 300w base load during the day and 250w from midnight till 7am. Have a1x 5.1(?)kw battery. Suggestions would be appreciated

To start the MPPT you need about 140v, so whatever combo of panels will get you there. Usually 4 to 6 depending on the panel VOC
 
I'm a bit confused about the connectivity of the deye inverters and solarman. In the last 12 hours it's been non existent cloud wise or sporadic. But my homeassistant has constant connection and is tracking all stats so the connection to my wifi network is not a issue and I can browse the page of the dongle fine. So unlikely it's a local internet issue as my home network is fully online and fine. It's not a huge concern as HA is nicer for me , just it's odd.

Does the inverter have ita own wifi or does it leverage the dongle?
