All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Trying to find a post on a summary of the Sunsynk inverter options.. do i have this correct:
Tick "Zero Export" and "Solar Export" = Power essentials, and non-essentials and feed into grid
Tick "Zero Export" and "Solar Export" and set "power limiter" to 0W = Power essentials and non-essentials
Tick "Zero Export" and "Limit to load" = Power essentials only

On Battery settings, if i have 2x Sunsynk batteries, then I can safely set the max Charge to 100A and max discharge to 150A?
If grid charge is, for example 60A, then when conditions are right it will charge 60A from grid and 40A from PV directly for total 100A?

Aren't Sunsynk batteries 0.5C batteries meaning 50A x2 = 100A charge/discharge?

Something just blew in my DB and inverter saying F18 :( barely any load was running so I suspect a wiring fault.
No power. Will call installer in the AM. Not fun..

This is 2 days after install completed.
 
I'm attempting to integrate Philips Hue with Sunsynk. It currently connects and can turn on the lights based on the battery state of charge (SOC). However, I'm unable to find an option to activate the color setting only when off-grid. As a result, the bulbs remain on even when the batteries are fully charged and we're using the mains power (Eskom).

Additionally, there is no option to set a condition such as "less than 95% SOC" to trigger the color activation. My main goal is to have the lights running in color mode only when we are off-grid, as it will serve as a visual indicator for my family to know that we are relying on battery power during that time.

I am aware that I could potentially use Home Assistant for this purpose, but that would require purchasing additional hardware to run it. Considering I only need to control the lights, I don't believe it would be a cost-effective solution for my needs.
 
Nah, just trying to understand why people are shelling out almost R3k for something they can get for R150.
I've just shelled out R150k for something that I could technically have done myself. R3k extra is a drop in the bucket. (Though admittedly it's going to need to be next month's bucket.)

A colleague of mine has taken this route - procured everything himself (battery, inverter, panels, etc), installing, doing the wiring, corresponding with city of cape town. It's taking him weeks, whereas mine was done in a day. Sure, I paid a few thousand extra, but I am now getting the benefit. He isn't (yet).

This isn't a moral judgement or anything - if you want to take that route, it's great. If you have the time, fine. I don't - I'd rather spend my free time with my wife and kids doing something that isn't more work.

If you put it that way, I think I might have just seen a little weekend hobby business opportunity.
Go for it! Just be aware - making something that works for you, as the designer / hobbyist is one thing, making something that Joe Public can use ... another story. I've been involved in both processes, one is a lot more rigorous than the other. Not trying to discourage you but it might end up taking more than just the occasional weekend. Genuinely keen to see what you come up with.
 
Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, it makes a heck of a lot more sense if you already have an unused Pi lying around.

Also, I'm pretty sure the esp32 will fit inside the inverter quite comfortably so no reason for it not to look squeaky clean.
That's a good point, I already had a Pi, took me months to find it though.

I probably would have gone the ESP route otherwise, if I was aware of it at the time.

So house running off solar/battery now, installer will come through today to sort out the db. Hoping this is a quick solve..

On the above, I would be keen to pay someone to automate things for me. Tweak inverter settings and geyser timing based on loadshedding and expected PV production. Or at least set it up for me and give me some options to play with. Going to give it a shot myself, but it does look above my head at first glance.
 
I don't really get why people choose to go with solar-assistant. It's obviously a really good product, I just don't get the use case for it (especially if one is already running HA).
How do you run HA securely? Does it connect directly to Rs232 or CAN?
 
Where can I check that my sunsynk 8kw uses both batteries that is connected

Revov shows 4 light indicators and other shows 6,only realized this now as walking past

Checked on their screens and both are not on 99%

I only have sunsynk app to check inverter which shows 99% soc as well

Used as backup, no solar panels

Please help

Switched off eskom today

Taking batteries down to 30%

Will see if they equalize when power is back on later
 
No solar assistant is plug and play. I bought the software, the two cables , flashed the SD , connected the cables from the pi to the inverter and battery, basic config, and the data was in HA.

Please also note, I have a sunsynk dongle which means I still needed to do something extra for the Kellerman integration to work if I recall from reading at the time.

In addition, I was not going to go and find an ESP32 board ,etc. I just used mostly what I had .

Also with my installation , it looks clean and doesn't look dodge (I mean that with no malice) as I guess an ESP32 would look next to an inverter etc.

Plus: it's been rock solid reliable from minute 1 of go-live
You can do pretty much the same with the same cables, Pi and the Kellerman integration if you have HA. It will give you the same real time access to inverter data and ability to modify settings that you get from Solar Assistant using equivalent hardware.

You won't get the battery integration and stats and it requires a bit more configuration (examples are available online though and I had mine configured within 10 mins).

You can have it connect in the exact same manner as SA (via RS485) or use RS232. I bought the SA RS485 cable for mine

That's promising. I might give it a whirl. Given that it's OS it's more secure than SA in my books.

Hmm... that only supports 3 phase... does HA really not allow updating the inverter?
It does, if you have a connection to the inverter. The one I linked is for 3 phase, the guy on solar integration YouTube channel shows you how to make one for the single phase inverters. It's really trivially simple.
