Well, it can't use the grid AC grid to invert. Inverting is for DC->AC. But it could probably use the grid AC to generate the DC to charge your battery.Quick Q for the electrical engineers.
We had an outage today that was down to one phase at the substation being down. As a result, we were getting 195v on our grid incoming line. I'm on single phase.
The inverter seemed to happily use that 195v to charge my batteries - it was using around 4Kw when I noticed the voltage was low (frequency was still a stable 50hz). I switched off for safety sake - I don't know the cause of the phase being down - could be an intermittent fault - and I don't want to deal with expensive equipment being roasted.
Is the inverter really able to take a low input like that and invert it without issues? I'm surprised it didn't isolate it based on the grid settings.

As per thread - 2x 5.5kw Sunsynks. I am curious about that. I was hoping output would be constant 230v despite the low input. My concern is I'm not always here when these things happen and I don't want to roast equipment.Not sure which inverter you have, but most of them will match the incoming grid voltage, and pass that to the load. So your loads probably also saw the low voltages.
Hmm that kind of goes against what I know. Your inverter voltage is normally higher than your incoming which is how the inverter is able to feed local loads first and reduce grid demand. Does that mean the voltage while higher was still significantly reduced, not sure. I dobt think the 6 CVEs all relate to just the wifi. The worst in my books is that I can change your settings by simply asking someone on Whatsapp to change them and giving them your dongle serial. I believe the security issues may be related to the Sunsynk dongle continuously broadcasting its Wi-Fi signal with a simple-to-guess password. How can I change this setting to enhance its security?

I just unplugged mine and am using solar assistant. I'll plug them in again if I need support but they stay unplugged otherwise.

Since enabling solarman integration and logging the inverters reported SOC - it goes all over the show compared to solar-assistant.
It looks like it might be some sort of balancing issue - the inverter reported soc jumps between the most charged battery, and the least charged:

I don't really get why people choose to go with solar-assistant. It's obviously a really good product, I just don't get the use case for it (especially if one is already running HA).+1 for this.
