All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Is anyone running a long cable from the RS485 port on the inverter to their Pi/NUC/whatever else? Any issues with the comms?

I'm going to go the kellerza Home Assistant addon route and my HA machine will be 9 metres away from the inverter. A quick Google shows RS485 upto 12m is fine with no drop in speed. I got this adaptor to use with it:

I think like in my case he does nor want to (can not) have powered device next to inverter.
It was easier to install network cable and take it to the closest router where pi is.

Which is what wifi allows you to do, isn't it?
 
Silly question, you shouldn't be able to overcharge the batteries right? They've been at 100% for around 30mins, the voltage is still climbing, its just reached 53.5 I see AM2 spec says equalization at 53.8 so assume still a bit to go, it hasn't hit that "static" level yet.

Quite a few posts come up and not sure around what time frame to look at.

With the Solarman integration there's a 1 minute delay while running a cable and using kellerza it's realtime from what I can see. I need realtime reporting so I can control the load until I expand my battery bank (max draw will be capped at 4.8KW until I add more batteries).

My install is happening in 2 days so I think I'll get a better idea of what I need to do once I start playing around with the stuff.

I think your original post was a bit confusing, it could be interpreted to mean that you'll be using the HA add-on only. In which case you don't need a cable. It can pull the data from the logger via WiFi.

If you're using Solar Assistant into HA then you'll need the cable, because SA becomes the source...

Oh I see, I don't want to use Solar Assistant. I have a NUC that runs Home Assistant and all my other apps and don't want to fork out for another device that is only dedicated to 1 app.

I'm planning on using kellerza addon with the standard deployment option outlined here:

I don't plan on using the dongle that came with the inverter after the initial install and config.

I tried to use wifi dongle that is supplied with inverter but that particular (newer ) version I could not integrate to HA.

You are on right track, I use same setup except inverter is quite away from HA server so I have 10m cable from inverter to RS485 and old pi that only serves as modbus server.
Then my HA server connects to pi.

Data is realtime, maybe second delay.
 
This looks like a crapload of charge considering the battery was "supposedly only at 50%"?

Hmm I have an ESP32 so this could also work. Thanks!

Seems I don't even need to get a new RS485 adapter, I can just remove the jumpers from it and wire up the ESP. Gonna get started on it so I can plug it in as soon as they finish up the install :D

In my case I do not have power next to inverter so would most likely have to jippo 12v with step down to 5v from inverter.
This way it is much neater.
What do you mean you don't have power next to the inverter? There's literally about 5 different options for taking power from the inverter (or adjacent db).
 
Why would you need a changeover switch if you connect a generator to a Sunsynk? Mine has a dedicated generator connection and setting to allow me to tell the inverter how much power it can take from the generator. It is simply just another input into the inverter and can be used at the same time as the grid, solar and battery . No need for a changeover switch.
Think he was referring to when you don't connect the generator via aux input and have it replacing grid input.

For aux input, you don't need a changeover but an isolator and overload breaker are definitely recommended.
 
Yeah, the math's doesn't add up. But let it do it's balancing thing this once and then see if it gets better
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the installer ever got the batteries to charge up fully, it just went into use.

This looks like its close to finish or just trickling now.

I'm only aware of 12v output. This seemed to me neatest way to do it.
Is there any other output that could be used with pi directly from inverter for future reference?
(I like esp32 idea, might do it for a friend)
