All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

249V is high but is below the maximum allowable set on the inverter from what I remember? You said the INV Output voltage(V) is set to 230V, what are the Low voltage(80.0-300.0V) and High voltage(80.0-300.0V) under Grid Settings > Normal Connect set to?

It shouldn't be that then and the frequency seems fairly stable. Can the installer get SunSynk to take a look? When we had the issue with ours not connecting to grid at all as it was reporting frequency as 0Hz when it definitely wasn't, our installer got SunSynk to take a look. They reset/rebooted the inverter and updated to the latest firmware which solved the problem although I am not sure what exactly caused it in the first place.

I will suggest that to them, the firmware was updated to see if it was maybe a bug.

Our physical setup is the same, I didn't know of the setup options in the AUX section of the inverter though, so when our generator is running again I want to give it a try.

Generator is up and running again, may have been air in the fuel lines or a blocked manual primer filter, at least it starts now. Surprisingly, despite a nameplate in the control box listing 12kVa and one on the outside of the control box listing 1kVa, the actual generator is a 25kVa 3 phase unit using a FAW 4DW91-29D 2.5l 4 cylinder NA diesel engine.

It's all about the voltage and very little to do with the rates wattage of the panels.

Haven't looked at the specs for the 8kw sunsynk but I think the maximum voltage per string is 450v/500v

Depending on your panels you can hook up as many until you reach max voltage.

I have 10 x 460w panels (divvied up into 2x strings of 5 panels ea) and my voltage is around 180v per string on a day like today - sunny skies not a cloud in sight.

Maybe this gives you some data to work with.

Maximum amount is infinite. Although the more you add after a certain point the less the yield from that panel.

Each string can take 425V, so that's your most important limit. Depending on the exact panel spec that's usually around 9 or 10 panels in series. You can then add as many parallel strings as you want keeping in mind that the MPPT will max out at 22A. The more parallel strings you add the earlier in the day you'll hit that threshold (or the better your yield will be on a cloudy day).

Summer we're good. Winter is the problem.

Base on voltage, I think I was almost right at 40 panels.

Just perhaps look on the side nameplate of the inverters.

Mine, 5kw's though, have a warning about a wattage limit when used without grid which is lower than the value in the "spec" section.
Not sure why that is but I moved my strings around to respect it.

Max solar pv input on the 8kw is 12kwp across all strings.
 
I thought it was in the 10kWp range? If it is 12kWp then I'll look at adding 2 more panels to each of our strings which will help a lot with winter generation.

They have changed it various times in the firmware so the specs are not reliable.

That said over sizing by a bit only means you lose a few hours a day from clipping at mid day so not the end of the world as you will still get more watts in the morning/afternoon.

Interesting, I'll have to check voltage and amperage limits, another two panels on each string would take each string to 5.45kWp and the total to 10.9kWp. More than enough for our needs in summer but more importantly would give us better PV production for winter which is limited to around 25kWh/day at the moment for various reasons.

I am running a Mikrotik hEX S and a Unifi AP AC LR, if it matters. DHCP leases are set to 7 days on this particular pool.

I have the original solarman dongles on my inverters but i only get about 4-6 connects / disconnects from the wifi per day - wonder what happening with yours? Could it be the AP issues you mentioned in the other thread? Is it only this device or are there others exhibiting the same behaviour

It's only this dongle that has this funny behaviour.

I gave it a static IP but it doesn't seem to save the settings if I put my own DNS in. If I leave the strange DNS in that it prepopulates, it works. I might just do some captive DNS for it if it's gonna be a little bitch about it...

I had a dongle which would light up and outwardly looked fine, but would connect and disconnect multiple times, resulting in extremely intermittent data on the one dongle whereas the other dongles (other inverters in parallel) had perfect stats right next to it. Sunsynk support asked me to try swapping the faulty dongle with another, the issue was sorted ie so the dongle definitely was at fault. Sunsynk replaced it free of charge.


The dongle can readily be swapped with any other as long as its on the same plant, the stats will populate correctly based on inverter serial number.
