Not having done it myself, I think you need to exchange it or something like that.

I downloaded the compressed blockchain from Here, the site itself is (was?) slow though. After decompressing the archive and copying the blockchain file to "AntshareCore" it synchronizes the last remaining blocks. I was set after about 3 hours (blockchain download and final sync. included). You may have better luck though.

If you are going to download the blockchain archive then don't run the wallet before you have copied it, else it does not work and you have to delete some or other folder and try again.

Thanks Etienne, I did a quick buy in and draw to my address in Antshares core. Just want to get this done prior to NEO. I decided to rather continue the sync since it was already in process.
 
I have Jaxx wallet with some ETH in. I just did a transfer to another Jaxx wallet with no issue at all.

Now I am trying to transfer ETH to my Bittrex ETH wallet, and each time I get "transaction failed"

Any idea why that is happening?? And what I can do to get around it??

I want to sell my ETH holding but I cant if I cant transfer.....

Just curious, how long did the sync. take in the end (and what type of internet access do you have).

8Mb download / 1Mb upload, ADSL. Still busy, ~70 000 to go, but I did exit the wallet yesterday, only loaded it again at around 14:00.
 
It seems that Verium has dried up, I am not hitting any new block since June 22nd since the hashrate skyrocketed. Sad… The p2p pools which are available is also poor and unreliable. Apparently the devs will introduce p2p mining through their Verium Vault app which will make mining viable again. Verium is GPU and ASIC resistant. It was better mined than to be invested in, but has the potential.
 
Any advice on exchanges? I want to turn some ETH into BTC. It will probably be smallish amounts initially 0.5 or so ETH.

Friend suggested coinexchange.io, I see lots of mentions of poloniex.com and bittrex.com. I'm not too worried about turning either into ZAR at the moment, just looking for the most efficient and safe way to do it.

I use both Poloniex and Bitfinex. They are both good.
