Hoping they'll sell things that aren't available in SA. I don't mind waiting for delivery.

I'm having an issue with the Amazon shopping app when looking at phones. No matter what I choose, it says "cannot be shipped to your location". It's never done this in the past - I've bought several phones from there. Is this happening to anyone else?

Amazon doesn't do the selling apart of some select items. Sellers can choose to use their own shipper or stock in the warehouse and let Amazon do the logistics.

There isn't really any 120V stuff anymore. It's all specced 100-250V nowadays.
 
I've been buying from Amazon for years (only big name products) and have never had anything but awesome service. I just hope that their courier fees will be competitive once they have settled here. Then i will kiss Takealot goodbye and only support Amazon.
 
Amazon used to be competitive when shipping here but, no longer. If you can source it locally, almost guaranteed it'll be cheaper than amazon and not having to deal with aramex is an added bonus.

It'll be very disappointing if they only sell local stuff and have the same range as TA.

Lots of 120V vs 220V stuff out there. Any sort of heating appliance, like a rice cooker, hot water dispenser or Toto washlet seat will be either 120V or 240V.

For example something like this:

I think that’s exactly what will happen. There may be exceptions & contract amendments for local channel - but most the stuff will still need to come via the correct channel.

You may get more choice of a product type or model with the amendments though
