Amazon starts shipping to SA again

The standard shipping cost on each item amounted to $13.98 (R118) and would take 18 to 32 business days to arrive. The expedited shipping cost on each item was $20.98 (R177) and would take 6 to 16 business days to arrive.

Not sure if this is the only two option, but beginning of last year I was in dire need of two textbooks (R2000), the shipping cost me R900 when I ordered it on the Monday, it arrived that Friday!
 
oh yes, praise the lord. fortunately this time the comrades did not screw it up to the point of no return. i had actually stopped buying from amazon, since the shipping alone used to be more expensive than the items. i used to buy on take2.co.za
 
I started buying my books through abebooks.com. It gives one the option to buy new or used books, the latter often at a considerably lower cost. Good second hand copies may go for half the price of a new one. Used books and their physical appearance is described, and I have found the decriptions to be very accurate.
The only drawback is that it is difficult to combine shipments of more than one book.
Delivery time is usually just over 20 days.

Don't know what all the fuss was about cos the UK version of Amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, never stopped shipping to South Africa. I've always used them anyway over the American version of the site cos they're usually cheaper.
 
LOL ... Think there SA partner (just google a company that has a container a week sent from Amazon to SA) did not work out ...

Now I can order again but like many I've become a loyal customer of take2, abrahamsbooks, kalahari ...
 
Really tough.
i wish SA had the kind of infustructure that they have overseas on the products that they can get, that we can't get here in sa for cheap

Try netbooks as well, local is indeed lekker.
