Going shopping on Amazon this year.

I overheard that items Fulfilled by Amazon are not going through SAPO. True or false?
Are they delivered to the door?

I live in JHB area area but there is no postal delivery and (certainly) I wouldn't use SAPO malservice. I checked prices for South Africa, for small items it is $7. As for international shipping it is very low, also cheaper than some local online centers.

Standard shipping 10-14 bus. days
Expedited shipping 8-16 bus. days

Standard shipping would be fine. What is other difference with expedited shipping?

I have never used their expedited shipping option, but they use various couriers. I had Aramex, UPS, Fedex and DHL deliver to me, never had an issue with an Amazon shipment. When they say 10-14 days, you may expect it sooner, all pending on their logistics.

No, they don't use SAPO. Their shipping partners clear with customs which is 'SAPO' in any case.

Thanks. If they use couriers for standard shipping (not SAPO), it would be great.

Amazon do not explain a difference between standard and expedited shipping and we have specific situation in this country.

I ordered some items from international sellers from amazon.co.uk, and they all used SAPO. Had to get refunds for pretty much all of them.

I ordered some items from sellers on amazon.com, and those did use couriers and not SAPO. I think those were Fulfilled by Amazon and not third party sellers though.

For some reason amazon.co.uk sellers are allowed to use SAPO. I also ordered something and it came via SAPO and under declared.

Amazon.com does not seem to use SAPO at all, even with the cheapest shipping options. This is the Fulfilled by Amazon stuff, which arrives quite quickly.

On the other hand, some of the 3rd party sellers use other services, like DHL Global or USPS that tie up with SAPO. You will never see these items, or maybe only after they are obsolete. I have been waiting for a 8GB DDR4 chip that was sent by DHL Global about 5 months ago.

(Note : Big difference between DHL Global and DHL Express, DHL Express is a courier service).

Amazon.com have always when I have ordered . Differs between fedex, dhl and aramax per delivery. Only once had an issue with aramax being slowing in clearing customs, amazon loaded two discounts for me for aramax not meeting the date set by Amazon. Aramax themselves offered no apology for missing the deadline...

No issues with amazon themselves , only there are issues its caused by the courier on the SA side...

Thanks guys. It seems that "Fulfilled by Amazon" is a key for avoiding thieves, confirmed by many members.

Happy shopping for sajunky. :)
