AMD Radeon R9 Series Availability?

I flashed my 7970 with R9 280x bios , card boots and reports the new clocks , but bf4 crashes after a while , will wait for more bios to come available to flash with :p
Don't think it's just the cards fault... My BF4 crashes a lot!

was some weird direct x error , never saw it before i flashed my card , was fine after i flashed it back.

Most crashes is punkbuster related i think :p

I see, I see. Buy yourself a R9 280X and CF it! :p

That BF4 has sooooo many bugs and stuff they still need to sort out!
Almost had an orgasm when I saw a whole building collapse while sniping, was so epic! Everyone just ran and as the building hit the water a wave and dust cloud followed! Was epic!

Thinking of replacing my 5850 with a R9-270X. Any idea what kind of upgrade it will be? What kind of resolution and frame rate at Ultra can I expect?

Sapphire r9-270X - with dual fan , 28nm , 2Gb 256bit 4 channel DDR5 , 32RoPs , 179.2Gb/sec memory bandwidth ; 1280 stream processors , 80 texture unit , 2690 GigaFLoPs, core clock : 1020mhz ; memory : 5600mhz , 2x DVi + 1x HDMi + DP ( with DVi to d-sub converter ) - full retail pack - require 2x 6pin power connector

Wait for bf 4 to be released and then make your decision from there, can't base anything on a half baked beta.

You can be sure that it will be a whole lot better. You're basically getting a HD7870Ghz Ed with the R9-270X (re-badged card), and the HD7870 is a lot better than a 5850. If the R9-280X is out of your budget, the R9-270X will be very good. Just make sure the an OC version, I think that is where the sweatspot is with the new card releases, and a place where Nvidia doesn't compete yet. With regards to Ultra setting on 1080p, not so sure. Will probably be getting 35-50fps in BF4 if your CPU is up for it also.

So I've currently got a HD6970 2GB, thinking of getting either the R9 270x or R9 280x.

What do you guys think would offer the best in terms of value?

I'm leaning toward the 280x

Also what would a 2nd hand HD6970 sell for these days?

Looks like the R9-270X will be a decent upgrade from the 5850. Keep in mind I have an i5. Other than replacing everything this is a reasonable cost. My monitor is a 20" at 1600x900 anyway.

I've made my purchase of the R9280X from Wootware... Waiting in anticipation for it to arrive now :)

The day I was going to place my order for the 7970 I checked my mail and saw with glee it was on Wootware's site. I know there is currently no give or take between the 7970 and and 9280, but Im happier to have the "newer" card.
Depending on the review, the 7970 is better at some things and the 9280 at others.

For R3800, I'd say its worth it. It's not as quick as the GTX770, but its cheaper and gives it some close calls.

Im just hoping the PCi-E 2 slot on my mobo doesn't cause any untoward behaviour.

How much for delivery? Do they have stock?

Installed the 270X today. Tried out BF3 on Ultra at 1600x900.

All I can say is WOW.

R9 290x should rear it's head in the next week or so as well.

I originally thought this would be the card I go for, but at R3800, the 9280x was more up my performance/price alley.... especially from my 5870 :)

Im really interested to see if the 9290x is the beast it's been rumoured to be (Titan beater?).

Where did you get such a good price for the 280X?

EDIT: Nvm, from wootware, hehe

Anyone know when the XFX and MSI 280x will be available?
