AMD Radeon R9 Series Availability?

What do you think so far?

Heat or noise issues?

Do you happen to have a side profile picture? With the card installed in the motherboard.

Sadly no pic on hand.

I've had no heat issues (70deg after 3D mark and some gaming), and it appears to be less noisy than my Club 3D 5870 was under load.

Edit: I'm happy I got it. It was a fairly significant upgrade in my case, so I got the increase I was hoping for. My remaining internals are old though, so your performance may be better than mine.

Looks like I'm going to hold out for the non-X 290

Leaked benchmarks show it to be faster than the GTX 780 and with an expected price point of less than $500(The X is $550) vs the GTX 780's $650, it's going to hit a nice price v performance balance.

I was also thinking of getting the R290. Just remember, the R290X is selling for $570ish, here it is R9000ish. So, say the R290 goes for $480, we'll be looking at R6000... Sad times.

The 290x is R8500 from Evetech on pre-order, no pricing yet from my suppliers but I'm guessing around R7000-7500, so hopefully we'll see the 290 at less than R5000

The R9 290 is reportedly going to be priced at $450, I'm betting on it being around R5000-5300 by the time it gets here

Awesome value considering that the GTX780 locally starts around R9000

Agreed, but only time and benches will tell if it is true value for money...

That is impressive! GTX780 outgunned by the R290!

What's more interesting to me, is that 2xR280X that outperforms a R290X by quite a margin... Buying 2xR280X will be the same price as a R290X. Something worth looking into.

Interesting, didn't even notice that.

They are releasing new silicon for the 280X come November with lower power usage, so less heat and possible higher attainable OC clock speeds.

This is becoming quite an interesting range of cards.

Got tired of waiting so just ordered the Sapphire R9-280x Dual-X :)
