The report comes from Kyle Bennett of (Ex HardOCP & Ex Intel) and seems to have been confirmed by multiple sources. AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX & Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics cards are based on the RDNA 3-based Navi 31 GPU. Each graphics card features a slightly different SKU of the Navi 31 chip but they are essentially the same chip, albeit configured differently.

Bennett is known to dig into Nvidia though, sometimes with 'opinionated' claims.

Regardless, in the case AMD is shipping ~200,000 RX 7900 series GPUs then it will be a good load more than Nvidia has shipped. So, I guess this time around, every reviewer, gamer, their cat, dog, mouse and whatnot will get an AMD GPU. I am still surprised by how many 4090s Nvidia has given away, yet, the plebs must sell their house to buy a GPU. That is marketing...

Also, reviews are to be expected any time now.

Linus made it clear on multiple occasions that he won't upgrade his personal PCs to RTX 4000 series, so he has been backing AMD hard on their RX 7000 series.

In the case Nvidia cuts their 4080 MSRP down to $999-1049 then AMD will be trouble since they would have to cut their prices too. This being said, $900 is a price too high to pay in any way. Enthusiasts ‘gaming’ class GPUs should be no more than $700. Both AMD and Nvidia have done bad product repositioning.

but, I do agree with Steve. The product positioning is wrong, it is overpriced... The same is applicable to the RTX 4080 and RT 7900 XTX, but the RT 7900 is in a real odd place given the landscape.

AMD is not the hero people wanted this time around. All eyes on Intel...
 
People keep on freaking out about the pricing of x80 and x90 class cards. They're not meant to be strong value. Wait for the 70 class and lower.
 
Tech Radar reported that the UK don't have day 1 stock, GPUs are all on preorder. I guess AMD do have a paper launch in some places.
 
Tom's Hardware reported that the US online allocations are all sold out, but the 4080 online allocations were also all sold out on launch day. Seeing the huge day 1 allocation in general, there will be plenty to buy in-store.

It is unknown how many units are assigned to the online allocation, but apparently the waiting time on AMD's own website is currently 45 minutes.

Considering the US MSRP, the XFX prices on Wootware aren't all too bad...

Too expensive. Nvidia needs to drop the 4080 sub $1000. Maybe then AMD and Nvidia can talk business with the consumers, however, it seems that the GPU is well received in the US, so the Yanks have the money, and hence the price isn't a deterrent to access the product at its price point. Us, other, poorer, people, well... but I am sure that the GPU will sell well here too, though the initial allocations might be small which would give that impression.

We will soon know how badly the scalpers have preyed on the online allocations.

Thing that pisses me off is that historically the x60 GPUs were the budget GPUs that could deliver a very good 1080p experience at a low price. The price over the years has however risen sharply. Yeah they added raytraysing which I think many would happily do without.

If the high end is overpriced that trickles down to the lower ranges. The 4070 will priced in the 3080 range instead of 3070...

Let's see from AMDs side down the line. Both companies will be due for price drops with the slow sales on 4000 series as an indicator.
