These cards are identical to the radeons. The difference is a softlock which allows these cards to use the virtually bug-less workstation drivers. Your paying for the drivers and support, and not the actual hardware. Any one with google can softmod their current radeon to its work station equivalent for a fraction of the price. You just need to make sure you get the correct softmod for your cards bios.

Softmodding it allows you to install the work station drivers, which enable advanced features in programs such as solidworks.

Dont be tricked into buying one of these simply because of the fat price. These cards are for large companies who dont know any better than to buy what costs the most.

The same can be done with nvidia quadro cards. But not worth buying at the end of the day.

i'm sorry, i do not believe in this....i'll do some research and get back to you, but afaik, these cards have serious number crunching power that the "gaming cards" do not have.

the two cards are designed for different uses - these cards are optimized for polygons - no Effects/sprites and stuff like that that gaming requires..
