well that's good enough for me, I am just confused by the different opinions about amobia... like you say you are on the uncapped and getting full speed most of the day... while others say their p2p is shaped to 10% and below 24/7
 
I am in the market for a WISP but checking hellopeter and seeing that the suppliers response adds your email address to the publically available response I have to wonder about their business ethics and no outright answers on p2p/torrent policy is all just ringing some alarm bells.

My 4mb line - full disclosure, this is one of the rare days it's that quick at this time of night. Usually it's around half that before midnight and gets better later.

I don't use torrents or any other forms of p2p so I can't provide input for you on that. The shaping during the day usually gives me about 20-25% of my line-speed for HTTP downloads. Customer service is excellent - can't complain about that. Overall I don't require much bandwidth (usually do about 100Gb a month) so Amobia works fine.

What do they charge for the 4mb connection, website is outdated?
 
It's the R799.00 one...they moved people to 4mb without changing the price. This was pretty cheap before but Bitco offer 5mbps for R899.00 so check them out also.

Bitco not in CT yet as far as I know, they keep threatening to though.
 
I am currently waiting on a site inspection from them to do an installation. I work from home and there are no telkom lines here. I need a fast uncapped solution. I also use a lot of NZB downloads but I don't use torrents much. Will this type of connection be totally useless for NZB's?

Edit: I'm in the Cape Town area if that makes any difference
 
I had no issues doing a lot of torrents on them. I guess the archaic news server will also work.
 
No no no...Amobia not awesome anymore!!!!
I have been with Amobia since June 2011 and it started out with great speeds, awesome service. Installation then happened very quickly...was on a 3Mbps line and at some time they upgraded it to 4Mpbs with no increase in cost. Service was always quick and responsive...lately though I have found their service sucks...emails logging especially account queries go unanswered/unacknowledged...there's no comms done on outages (I think they kinda wish away the problems and think if they don't talk about it then the outage will go away and clients wont complain)...trying to get a credit note raised on your account for any outage is like trying to pull teeth out of something...connectivity has been erratic and now I just decided to jump ship and am in the market again looking...YahClick options are way too expensive and low bandwidth allocation...haven't tried Screamer yet but any other options on offer out there?
 
Ok, so I got on the Amobia band wagon about a month ago after reading several good things on MYBB. The installation was a breeze and at first start up my 4mb uncapped acount was blazing, i could actually stream a semi HD version of Despicable Me using Genesis on xbmc.

Now a few weeks later, still using the same xbmc setup as before, I am struggling to watch normal SD tv shows, with massive buffering. Some shows even staying at 0% for almost 10 min.

So how is streaming for you guys and if reasonably good, what are you using to stream with?
 
I cancelled my internet connection with Amobia and phoned twice to confirmed it was being cancelled. Needless to say I was again billed yesterday. (they agreed to wave the 30 day notice as I have had such bad service from them)

Yet another reason why I cant wait to never have to speak to these people again.
