ANC Achievements

Thought about starting this thread. Can we get enough posts to get to Page 2?

Seeing that you started the thread, how about updating your opening post listing ALL the achievements and successes that have been mentioned in your thread.

This will save us from discussing duplications.

Please don't go the Racist route, but I really struggle to understand how people can claim that the ordinary South Africans are better off post 1994.
Quality of Education -Shocking
Quality of Healthcare-Shocking
Postal Service-Non existent
Cost and Availability of Electricity v Pre 1994-Shocking
Corruption--Shocking
Road Deaths--Shocking (No more Trained ,honest Cops)
Quality of roads-Shocking(Bar e-tolled roads)
Safety and Security--Shocking.(No more trained honest cops-or,Very few)
Quality of Public Broadcaster-Shocking.
Clean functional,safe cities.
Justice system-Crumbling.

Please can someone explain to me,how people ,are now better off, because they now have the vote.(And I am not suggesting they should not have the vote)

I doubt many Zimbabweans would not prefer to live under the old Smith rule.

Define "ordinary" South Africans, please.

I can see that will be the answer to anyone who points out anything positive that has happened under the ANC controlled government. Never mind that the country was bankrupt when the new government came into being, it must be some mysterious force that is responsible, nothing to do with the anc. So it's a lose - lose situation. Everything negative that has happened is directly due to the anc, anything positive is despite them. All it shows is your preconceived bias. This kind of thinking seems to occur a lot on myBB - it's the same logic white people use when they want to take credit for all the positive things (we brought technology and civilization) but distance themselves from the negative (I wasn't even born yet). Bah, no point in discussing things with such people who clearly have no interest in facts.

This. So much this.

I find it unfathomable how irrational people get on this topic. It's entirely reasonable to acknowledge good things while still criticising the bad things.

But of course, one gets called an ANC fanboy or apologist if you disagree.

Um, what SA had going for it when the ANC took over was a lot of international good will and a laissez-faire atmosphere which they have since been destroying. The only claim they can make to the growth we experienced in the last 20 years is their involvement in our becoming a democracy and not fecking things up too quickly. Why don't you point to things they actually did to foster growth instead of putting a spin on reality?

No. Their economic policies were directly responsible for it.
Would another political party had similar policies? Probably. But that doesn't take the achievement away from them
Doing what anyone would have done just not as efficiently and with more corruption is an achievement?

It was quite natural that SA would experience some sort of economic growth after 1994 given that international sanctions had been lifted.

All the ANC had to do was not give into the hard Left and economic growth would come naturally. SA's economic potential had been artificially suppressed by the sanctions.

Really, the economic growth part is not all that surprising.

Personally, I think, the Majority of South Africans are in a sad position with very little hope for the future. The ANC has raped this country and The Liberal Press and Media choose to ignore it.

Pretty way off your own topic, aren't you? Or was this the intention of your thread?
