Apparently you know a lot more than most - I've seen a lot in the news (and on Carte Blanche) about these exact things you mentioned NOT WORKING.

So - out of interest, the people you mention above, are they not the very same people striking because of non-delivery? Or am I mistaking them with DA supporters.

why south africans who emigrate think that emigrating is an exclusive south african concept is beyond me. life carries on everywhere. ask the people who left before 94, they thought the country would go up in flames. many have quietly sneaked back into the country. ever thought that americans who live here left america to come here? and america goes on, right?

I didn't say it was an exclusive right. As stated in my post and various other ones dotted around the forum, I left to travel. But now I find myself in a position of being part of the "chicken run" as my motivation for not coming back is the crime, bad politics etc etc.

There is however a difference between emigrating and self imposed exile. (maybe a drastic term) however if it wasn't for crime and safety and lack of jobs and opportunities then that "chicken run2 would never have really happened. Sure people will still have left but not in the numbers they have done.

You need to back that up. The British did start abolishing slavery and also did start making noises about native people being involved in the running of the country. This pissed a lot of people off and they decided to go off and make their own way in the country - hence the Great Trek.

Their lives have gotten better by the removal of curfews. They're still living in squatter - and the public health system has gotten worse, education has gotten worse, police has service has gotten worse, etc... they now have some access to services which hardly work.

Most of the people involved in the great trek did not even own slaves, the people who did were the ones that stayed behind. There are other reasons for the great trek. It definitely wasn't a collective hissie fit because they couldn't own slaves. Most of them didn't have or want any. In fact slavery was illegal in the newly formed Boer Republics.

The original statement was that white people tried to massacre the blacks but were unsuccessful. I merely replied that this was nonsense, there was no attempted genocide of blacks in SA. there's 23 million registered voters. how many ppl were striking bcoz of non-delivery? and even the most gatvol of those disgruntled non-delivery strikers, the worst they would do is not to vote at all. thats an indictment on the political parties that they are not able to break the ANC-or-nothing stronghold

there is a lot of people that choose not to move from the townships. and it's for that reason that a lot of white ppl are surprised when they go to townships, bcoz they expect squalor and poverty everywhere. some ppl simply dont like the suburbs...
