ANC slams 'right-wing' expats

Yup, it made much more sense to turn them into slaves until those damn British people started complaining...
What you kidding me? The British didn't complain, they practically started slavery in SA and were responsible for most of the separatist policies implemented. In fact the NP just continued the good work the British did.

Besides, that wasn't what was disputed here, but thanks for barging in for no reason and completely missing the point of the post.

Comrades and fellow south africans, lets not condone harsh and belittling remarks by our fellow comrades. We cannot heal this country and become one strong nation if we deceide that two wrongs make a right.

The comment made by Jessie about "ring-wing expats" if she indeed made the comment is wrong and has no place in this new South Africa. If we continue to condone these comments they will become the voice of the ANC and that is not what the ANC is about. The ANC is about a better life for each and every south african irrespective of race religion or political background.

If everyone that complained left it would leave SA in a very precarious position...
...

why south africans who emigrate think that emigrating is an exclusive south african concept is beyond me. life carries on everywhere. ask the people who left before 94, they thought the country would go up in flames. many have quietly sneaked back into the country. ever thought that americans who live here left america to come here? and america goes on, right?

bottom line: south africans will always survive, regardless who's in charge

Actually I was just making the point that those nasty British colonialists that everyone is complaining about were actually the people who first started abolishing slavery. And they did so in the Cape.

Why do you think the Great Trek happened?

You need to back that up. The British did start abolishing slavery and also did start making noises about native people being involved in the running of the country. This pissed a lot of people off and they decided to go off and make their own way in the country - hence the Great Trek.

Right?

our priorities are just different. the only thing they can compare the current government to is the NP government, then it becomes the battle for the lesser evil. you must also remember that the lives of the people in the squatters have gotten better, not worse, so to them the noise about corruption is neither here nor there...:(

Their lives have gotten better by the removal of curfews. They're still living in squatter - and the public health system has gotten worse, education has gotten worse, police has service has gotten worse, etc... they now have some access to services which hardly work.

I wonder if all the NON-ANC voters left this country what would happen... Say all of them decided that on the 1st of May we are leaving South Africa... Next working day... Just ANC supporters... Please all you ANTI-NON-ANC voters what do you think will happen?

CHAOS.
The tax base will collapse.

Actually it is true, at least that's what I also learnt at primary school

you forgot free houses (close to 3 million RDP houses actually), running water and sanitation, electricity, street lighting, tarred roads, free education, free transportation to school.
I know you would not know about all of these cause you've problably spent all your life in your lush green suburb....

They want the government to not build houses for the poor, not give the poor electricity and to just forget about the poor since the poor don't pay tax, but instead they want the government to attend to their each and every lifestyle need, it doesn't matter how unimportant it is.

Apparently you know a lot more than most - I've seen a lot in the news (and on Carte Blanche) about these exact things you mentioned NOT WORKING.

So - out of interest, the people you mention above, are they not the very same people striking because of non-delivery? Or am I mistaking them with DA supporters.

They would rather have the gvt attend to a pothole on their driveways...even though they drive 4X4's :D

I'm at least paying tax, shouldn't I get something in return?

Well? I *like* living in a lush green suburb. And the former townships could be pretty lush and green by now if the ANC would just pull finger and get something done for a change.

Of course, if you prefer to live in a dustbowl then ... well, at least it's better than living under Apartheid, right?

(Anything is better than living under apartheid. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm saying that the ANC needs a different yardstick to measure their "successes".)
