South Africa has a working law of contract, just like it has a working democracy. Its not a mixture of anything, its a proportional democracy.

What concerns me more is all this talk of a breakaway, I thought the DA was a national party and if they support this then I have a issue. People would rather breakaway, than try and correct the wrongs and problems of the country as a whole? Very selfish, I got my cake so I can eat it and stfu all. How typicaly african.

This is a good point. My argument was that it was possible for the WC to secede and leave the rest of SA to go down the plughole of crime, corruption and incompetence. I hope they don’t take the attitude of ”Bugger you Jack, I’m all right” removing the glimmer of hope and plunging the rest of the country into the ‘Heart of Darkness’. My point was that they could, although I sincerely hope they don’t.

South Africas biggest GDP contributor is Mining, and mining related industries... not tourism.

Mining is not going to last forever because there is only so much one can dig. The Western Cape has the most important industry in SA and it can go on forever.

Tourism really is a very big thing and here in the Boland we do that nicely.

Tourism is a luxury, and will always be so so its subjective to MASSIVE seasonal shifts, which you can't base an entire countries economy on.

And yes, there is a history of independent areas co-operating... and there was the Cape Colony, whose borders as at 1910 when they integrated into South Africa, was the old Cape Province, not the Western Cape...

The Cape Party wants the Western Cape to gain independence, which as a geographic area has NO historic basis for independence, they would have to take all 4 of the Cape provinces with them... and then they have even less chance of gaining independence given the voting trends of the populations in the other 3 provinces.

Dude, have to correct you here, the pic I posted yesterday is proof that there is historical basis for the Western Cape to claim independence, however it's not that specific area that was handed over in 1910. Which is where things get fuzzy.
