Palimino : There are bylaws which prevent the slaughtering of animals in suburban areas...

If someone is doing that in your area.. report them to the police, and to the SPCA.

There are channels to go through for these kinds of things.

But your issues, are not political, they're cultural which is just something you have to deal with living in a country like SA, and it won't change if you guys got your little independent elitist enclave.

Judging by his posts, he is really not well informed about anything. :rolleyes:

Wow, you guys are really taking this Cape independence thing very seriously hey....

So you are OK with worship practices? I’m not. I have problems with hygiene issues (slaughtering animals in suburbia), sensitivities of the neighbourhood I have chosen to live-in and the cruelty to animals’ aspect (it’s not a vegetable you are tormenting). Must be a cultural thing.

The world is a diverse place. SA is a diverse place. Cultural beliefs does not determine whether someone can run a country or not.
You seem to have alteria issues.

You on the other hand only seem to be able to moan about the current government and then give up and try force your will on effectively 45million people becuase YOU don't like what the majority of them have decided.

Didn't they teach about peer pressure at school? What's popular isn't always what's right.

You need to come up with a better counterargument against people who criticise the government:

Criticism = racism didn't work.
Criticism = anti-democracy doesn't work either.
Criticism = hot-headed might work better, but won't make you popular (especially amongst people who have experienced eg. violent crime firsthand).

So here's a better idea. Attack the content of the criticisms.

**Any** advanced culture addresses problems involving hygiene, sensitivities of others and cruelty to animals. Just because an inhumane, disease-prone and selfish practice qualifies as a ‘cultural belief’, does not exempt it from a modicum of civilized behaviour. And I would venture that (this is borne-out) any culture that practises these barbaric habits, suck at governing countries.

Are you sure about the whole advanced culture thing?

Have you seen how our advanced culture slaughters animals? I'm guessing not, since you seem to have this belief that its all humane and nice and stuff.. its a disgusting and disturbing thing to see.

Please point out a government run with "primitive" cultures, as you seem to want to term them.

Yes, and how much appreciable progress in the economy/education levels etc have you seen in the last 15years?

THe massive economic ones are mostly due to us not being in isolation anymore,

The education levels have actually plumetted overall...

You seem to underestimate just what kind of time scale big changes take in a country...
Arguably, the Cape has the best schools IMHO.

Does it really Sackboy?

On what official list if you please...

and Cape-Independence... someone can only be "pwned" (as you so eloquently put it) if their FACTS are wrong, as yours have been on many occasions in this discussion.

That is true, without a doubt.. but it doesn't translate into the "best" schools... it has the better AVERAGE school.

"KZN has the majority of the best schools in the country, not the WC."

Please, DO say how??

Per Capita Education levels are the highest in the WC. No need to debate that fact. Everyone knows it. Figures speak for themselves. Just check the matriculation levels per province.
