ANC - Western Cape independence!

Ummm, yes it does work that way... If you don't like whats happening, and aren't prepared to work WITH the people of this country to fix the problems, but would rather create your own little enclave... then go find somewhere else that doesn't have the problems that need to be fixed.

No... I'm giving you the reality of the situation..

South Africa is South Africa.. you don't like whats happening, then start your little trek elsewhere.

Toxic mate, just for a minute lets wear those rose tinted glasses and live in a dream world.

Say within the next 10 years independence is realised. The Cape Republic is one of the most prosperous countries in the world, with a high level of employment, education etc. On the other hand S.A. is up **** creek without a paddle, and people are starting to revolt aka Zim 2.0. Would you then move to the Cape Republic, or stay in S.A. and take your chances?

Let's look at it in a similar way. The Cape is prosperous, S.A. is t1ts up. The people of your province decide enough is enough and decide hey maybe secession is the way to go. Would you support that? Bear in mind now the Cape would be providing a model your province could use. One by one over a generation each province seceeds (The 4 traditional pre 1994 provinces).

Eventually you will have 4 provinces (or even all 9) all being run efficiently and along similar lines. What's to stop them from re-forming a republic?

It's a matter of the baby steps principle. S.A. is far too big to be built up from scratch in one go (as has been evident in the last 15 years). First one province, then another then another etc, it's a sensible outlook really.

I'd say instead of fighting against it, support it or sit on the fence for now, see what can be done with one and then base your opinion/support on that.

It's a light at the end of every law abiding decent South African's tunnel. Don't switch the light off just yet.

I will never support it because I'm a South African.. I'm not a Kwazulu-Natalian.. or a Vaalie or anything else.. I'm a South African, and I will always oppose any stupid daft idea to split up this country into colonial borders...

We have to work together to make this whole country as good as it could be.

Oh and those rose-tinted glasses... don't really take into account reality...
10 years, the Cape won't have independence, that much I'm willing to put my neck out on.

Should it ever get independence, it will be another 50years before it starts to see any real appreciable progress in its economy, education levels etc etc...

"Should it ever get independence, it will be another 50years before it starts to see any real appreciable progress in its economy, education levels etc etc..."

Based on what? SA has had 15 years of independence for everyone, and I am able to make assumptions based on that time period. How do you justify your argument that the Cape lacks potential to well governed/ prosperous?

Yes, and how much appreciable progress in the economy/education levels etc have you seen in the last 15years?

THe massive economic ones are mostly due to us not being in isolation anymore,

The education levels have actually plumetted overall...

You seem to underestimate just what kind of time scale big changes take in a country...

No... I'm trying to make a difference but I at least understand that I can only make a small difference, but I'm prepared to keep trying since I know that making an appreciable change in something as large as a country is not easy and quick.

You on the other hand only seem to be able to moan about the current government and then give up and try force your will on effectively 45million people becuase YOU don't like what the majority of them have decided.

Valid point Toxic, I really do understand what ur saying... Its an emotional topic, we have different views on how to achieve this country's potential, (SA or Cape)

No, we don't have different views on how to achieve this countries potential...

You don't have a view on how to achieve this countries potential, you don't want to partake in this country and its progress.. you want to create a little enclave..

Which is a little enclave, based on no prior historic borders of the Cape Colony....

Which btw is the ex Dutch East India colony, that was then taken over by the British, so you can almost guarantee that the "colonialism" aspect of what you guys want WILL be used against you and it will pretty much sink you at any referendum on the issue.

In terms of GDP we're third, being just just beaten by KZN, HOWEVER, GDP per Capita we're 2nd as our population is way lower down here.

Your Ancestor worship point is HORRIBLY racist and bigotted. What does someones worship practices have to do with the running of a country?

So according to your pathetic logic and irrespective if a person is white, black, polka dotted or has purple zig-zags, if they believe in hygiene, the sensitivities of others and disapprove of cruelty to animals, they are racist and bigotted (sic). Curses, I am unmasked!

Sorry what?...

I'm trying to figure out how someones "worship" practices effect the running of a country?

I thought there was a correlation between savage and ignorant “worship practices” and the running of a country. I must be wrong because of the brilliant and enlightened way the country is run.

You are wrong. It's corruption and greed that create most problems. Not worship practices.

So you are OK with worship practices? I’m not. I have problems with hygiene issues (slaughtering animals in suburbia), sensitivities of the neighbourhood I have chosen to live-in and the cruelty to animals’ aspect (it’s not a vegetable you are tormenting). Must be a cultural thing.

Oke i did not read the whole post. But would it not be easy to give it to them and then boikot them??
