If you shoot someone, and kill them...... You need a trial to see if it really was self defence or not, else I could kidnap your wife / kid / yourself and lead them/you onto my property then shoot them / her / it / you and according to you the police should not lay any charges against me....

I heard this story from my girlfriend, one of the victims is a colleague of hers.

My mother and sister were tied up by five armed men in their house very recently as well. I left the house shorty before the incident occurred that night and had I been there I would most likely not be typing this now. They very very fortunately were not harmed but for a few reasons that we speculate as to why.

My mother also reports an acquaintance of hers was recently hit by armed men too.

I, personally think that particular law needs a re-write! A person defending his own home, property & life or family should never have to face arrest if he had to use his firearm to subdue the criminal. An investigation needs to be carried out, that much I concede...but to treat the "victim" as if he were the perpetrator is itself criminal.
