Android 9 does not support call recording

Better camera, better battery life, new adaptive brightness feature, digital wellbeing. There are a few more that's slipping my mind.
I'm a new convert to Android (coming from Microsoft Lumia 950 with built-in call recording).

I had my P20 Pro for a month before upgrading to Pie.

The P20 Pro already had an excellent camera and battery life, I had no problem with screen brightness indoors or outside and do not even bother with digital wellbeing. But I do miss call recording (was using ACR) and it's loss to me is much bigger than the apparent benefits of Pie. I'd go back to the previous Android version if it did not mean starting everything from scratch again.

Unfortunately, Pie is a mess. The sole purpose of this new upgrade was to make a new layout to grab attention of kids and then to remove a host of functions. I see on most Android forums abroad that most people hate Pie, and many Android users are moving back to iOS. I will also be making the move when my contract expires. Pie does not really offer anything to business phone users. In fact, it took away everything that was the sole reasons people moved to them or made use of them.

Google will find out soon, much like all their other failed ventures, that this was not a good idea. You can see this already happening abroad. I see Android also going to the graveyard in the near future, much like Google + and their other failed ventures. Unfortunately, for device makers using Android, they will be the victims of this decision.

Wow.... must rock in your fairy land?

You know Android is Open Source, ie if you don't like it... fork it? Unlike your beloved iOS where you stuck with what one company does. In Android, if you don't like what your OEM does you can swap to another phone, example Xiaomi's Miui kept recording in place with Pie update.

So because your OEM followed Google's example the entire eco system is dead.... just WOW.

PS: You do know that call recording API was removed back in Marshmallow (Android 6). App developers used a workaround, this workaround was a security flaw that got patched in Pie hence no 3rd party apps working without root anymore.

Let him move, clearly he is too stupid to understand that taking out 1 thing is not a host, but the less stupid people we have on android the less we have to hear about. Ios is for idiots anyway.

Thank you. What phone do you have?
I also asked in the s8 thread and someone said it doesn't.

No app will work unless you root your device. As easy as that. We have 14 Note 9 and Note 8 users and between them they tested all apps and confirmed that none are working once you installed Pie.

Maybe for you but not for most
As per the link, the required settings attached

And I can confirm it does work

Just tested it on a S9+ and it works. Just had to increase the recording volume.

Well.... f**k me! I just downloaded the app again and installed it on a Note 9 with Pie. The app looked a bit different than the one we tested last week, but it is recording fine.

Edit... nope, sorry, it records when you make a call, but not when you receive a call.

Interesting. I have not tested incoming calls only outgoing

It records outgoing calls fine. A lot of background noise though. But, incoming it only records your voice and not the person calling you. Here the audio is perfect, but again only your voice is recorded.
