Android App requests / Looking for an app that does X - thread

Give that a try, but the last and only update was over 2 years ago... Just keep that in mind.

Yeah I saw that, I only recommended it because I have used it in the past and know that it worked.
A quick search came up with these:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appgranula.kidslauncher
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whisperarts.kidsshell
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.famigo.sandbox&hl=en

There is another option with Nova launcher - simply backup your config and restore it afterwards (does not always restore widgets properly).

Yeah, my Desktop is always locked with Nova, when I want to change something I Unlock, change and make a CONFIG backup and lock again.

How about using a different Launcher? Nova Launcher has the ability to lock the Home Screen and contents thus no rearrangements can be made...

My son (3) plays on my tablet, and then moves icons, creates new desktops etc. This means there are a lot of desktops with gaps in between the icons, or only like one / desktop. is there an app that can re-arrange the icons, remove spaces and delete desktops that are empty.

TIA

Which version of Android is your tablet on?

Maybe reaching here...

I am busy playing an old classic game on my PC called Gabriel Knight. In the game you carry around a tape recorder. For every discussion you have in the game a new tape is created as per person or topic, and when you open each tape the contents of the tape is bookmarked in sections allowing you to play back the relevant parts.

I thought...maybe a cool idea for an android app?

So with a nice retro-ish interface you start a new recording (i.e. for a meeting or interview), and you get to file it, play it back afterwards and bookmark the parts of the audio to label accordingly. Maybe even to save time it has voice detection to skip past long gaps in the recording.

Anyone know if such a thing exists even in part? I see a tonne of recorder apps already and haven't checked them all yet.

There's an app on Google play called Cogi that you might find useful .. it basically listens to what's going on, and when you decide something is worth highlighting, you press a button and it starts recording from a few seconds (configurable) in the past.

They seem responsive to feedback and requests. Might be worth a try?

Looking for an app that records sounds playing from a streaming app

Looking for an app that reports actual battery remaining in a bluetooth headset.

Not the apps that calculate based on how much you have had it connected. I connect the same headset to other devices, so that would be inaccurate. Besides, my iPad shows accurate results OOTB, so why can't my phone?

Dont know if an app fitting this purpose has been mentioned but a colleague is looking for an app to block mobile data after a threshold has been reached with a PIN being needed to unlock any further mobile data use.

Use case for something like that?

I know there is a notification bar for android but is there an app or a setting to use that will allow notifications within folders too?

How do you mean within folders? (sorrybif I'm missing something)

No problems man maybe I don't understand how these things work or my explanation was way off.

You know on the home page or your front screen you have all your icons and let's say you have an email icon and you get a message then you have a little red number 1 or something appear on that icon. Now lets say I take all my apps and I put them in a folder on my home screen and a message or other type of notification comes through, is there an app saying there is an app within that folder that need my attention?

The iPhone has notifications on their apps so if you put them in a folder, the folder shows there are apps inside waiting for a response but I have not see that happen with android.

Hope it makes sense this time.

NOVA prime launcher does show notifications or unread count on some of the shortcuts so I assume that those still show if they are in a folder

Hmmm my Z1 shows a notification on the folder itself, but the notification bar shows the specific app rather than the folder.

aah ha let me look at Nova then, thanks guys.

I am using the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 if that makes a difference to the notification thingy.
