With Ford Sync it just asks for access to phone contacts as soon as you pair the device, no need for anything else

Hi. I'm looking for a decent app to use my spare phone as a IP camera and monitor it with my primary phone. Any ideas?

That would be an interesting use.
You could always just use a streaming broadcast app like Periscope or Younow, obviously first prize would be an IP based app that could stream directly to each device via the wlan and not Internet.
Heard about "SalientEye" - but did not use it myself

Looking for a offline map application with Google Online search functionality. I know the app exists, saw it last week somewhere, but forgot the name. Also if it can provide live traffic info before you leave the wifi hotspot it would be grand. This is for my mecer wifi only tab, I use it as my main Gps device.

yeah I know about Google, but there is also a decent looking map app with SA maps on SD card with a google search function. If you are in a hurry you can do a quick search, add to fav and off you go.

I have a lot of them which have their own strengths and weaknesses. For day to day use I keep coming back to Google Maps. Updated and very good traffic info.
That said for off line HERE is good, never got over the look of Waze

my preference is still Waze and I use it daily, it just hammers the battery and cpu on my S4 which can get quite hot, but I'm pretty much just running my S4 as a GPS anyway so that's not a biggie for me

Google Maps. Comes with all Androids
Waze has crowd sourced notifications though - so more feature rich.

Yeah I went the offline route because I bought a overseas phone with a crappy GPS antenna in it. There are apparently ways to fix this ranging from opening it up to putting a piece of copper tape over the gps chip. Since my wifi only tablet has a strong Gps I figured I might as well use that, since I use Gps maybe 2 or 3 times in a year. Currently using Here as it is the best I could find, but I once did see a offline map app with a Google search function, just bugs me that I can't find it again on the play store lol.

Also looking for a alternative YouTube player for my Android Tv Box. The default YouTube app plays every video in 720p upwards. Would love a app that I can set on 360P and it plays all videos on 360P.
Waze. I've tried all of the above, and Waze remains the best for updated traffic info, and police alerts.
