Android is anticompetitive – Open Internet Project

Well I did thought this was common knowledge, then again if google can bundle their products as defaults just like Microsoft does with Edge...

Sjoe....that article is very thin on details.
Very little detail anywhere, from what I can glean OIP are miffed that Chrome & Google search are default installs on licensed Android products.

Doubt this complaint will gain traction anywhere other than the EU - anyone for straight bananas & cucumbers

It's all about access to the Play Store. Anyone can compile and use AOSP, and several phone vendors do (e.g. Amazon). However, most consumers buying Android devices also want their devices to access the Play Store, and that is not possible without a license agreement from Google, which includes some provisions about their other apps.

I think the OIP is in the wrong here, as Android and Google doesn't actually restrict you from installing other apps, just that the Google apps must be present. Samsung is a good example of a vendor that does install alternatives, successful or not.
