No problem. Still got to fix the typo tho. Let me explain by quoting one of the relevent if not most relevant typo:

By filing in you banking detail, you are authorising Wi-Fi Mesh (Pty) Ltd to deduct from you bank account the above amounts at the beginning of each month.

Now as you can see the bold/underlined word is "amounts". This should be changed to amount(s),with the bracket, just to show that by filling in the form, one will either authorise the one amount or both depending on whether they take both, whereas amounts, without the bracket, specifies that both prices will be deducted regardless if you choose one or both.

Sorry I just had to :) who knows guys maybe he is not from around here and English is not his main language. He may not have all the technical knowledge of the product as it takes more than one person to set that kind of network up. My English is not that great either.

Still I want better Internet that is all I ask, so bring it on already :D

You know - that's no excuse. Without wanting to single out anyone in this case, and taking this discussion purely on a hypothetical basis, a business needs to ensure that its components are serviced by some one qualified to do the job.

Therefore, you do not hire a person with poor English skills to craft the text for a web site - you do not hire a person with no routing skills to plan your network routes, you do not hire a person with no engineering skills to maintain your 132kv power lines, you do not hire a person with no telephone manner to man your call centre. And so on.

While it may be that many of us (myself included) have been known to poke fun at the worst of the typos in this forum, this is wrong - in this forum people who do not speak English as a first language can be forgiven for their errors.

But - not on a commercial site. (www.news24.co.za has some doozies - and don't even get me started on www.sabcnews.co.za).

Again, and before I am chastised in this thread, I am not pointing fingers at any particular site, but rather responding to the Quoted post.

Friendly Reminder

The experts here already know this, but as it is not that obvious, let me tell you that our APs run Linux, 400 MHz CPU, have about 16MB free memory and most importantly, feature -118 db calibrated receivers with continuous FRQ tuning. Also, each of our APs keep records of its own as well as its neighbours, coordinates in a standard form, and with a resolution of zero point one arc second.

Our firmware is proprietary and we do not intend releasing it into public domain - if you are looking for one - there are many publicly available free mesh routing firmware out there...

Friendly reminder.

Some parts of your firmware may be proprietary, however if you are running linux like you have claimed you are obligated to supply those pieces of code plus modifications.

What an interesting and valuable this thread turned out to be.... NOT!

Originally I started this topic with an intention to discover the Wi-Fi "experts" in SA and possibly offer someone an opportunity to get involved with something they assumingly have interest in. Well, I must say that did not work out the way I intended it...

Passing through the 210 posts, I cannot stop myself from posting some self-processed statistics:

The 172 reply posts I generally see as:

*negative
*idiotic
*ignorant
*silly
*irrelevant
*naive
*stupid
*manipulative
*sarcastic
*based on wrong assumption
*offensive
*attacking the person
*infantile
*nit-picking
*demagogical
*moronic

few are:

*kind of neutral
*somewhat professional
*polite
*well composed

and none are:

*on topic

I posted 54 answers in 38 posts, making sure to answer all technical and operational questions, the rest of the posts and (silly) remarks were purposefully ignored by me on the grounds of:

*questions of commercial nature
*loaded questions
*good questions, unfortunately the posters made idiotic or offensive remarks in the past, thus putting themselves into position of being ignored by me (with some exceptions - caused by my mellow nature)
*questions presented as statements
*unsubstantiated claims

I still believe, most of the posts were made by their posters because they (falsely, I believe) thought that they are anonymous. If they had thought that they are not anonymous, they would have restrained themselves from posting posts that would have put them in such bad light. Poor pupies.

We updated our site – www.wifi-mesh.co.za - we hopefully removed (at least reduced) the typos.

More importantly, we simplified our message and structured it so to draw the site visitors to the dynamics of the phase one of our operation.
We slightly changed the definition of the meshes, we removed the VOD and VoIP services that we were originally intending to introduce only after phase two of the operation, as well as we removed the majority of the technical information of the meshes from our site – we learned from the mybroadband forums how easy is for someone to misinterpret what we say and what we describe – especially if they are not as strong technically as they things they are…

We also reflected the latest operational changes – the introduction of the free Internet access to the OLPC owners as well as making room for the introduction of the Free Internet Connected School project.

Big thank you to all who helped us with an advice – we hope to repay you one day by providing you with a great service.

You can call it whatever you want, but the fact is, you've answered 0 questions that were posed to you.

Until you've actually created a working network, you will continue to be the laughing stock of this forum.

So now how about you leave the big kids alone so they can get on with their jobs?
 
I for one appreciate and commend the efforts made to correct the typos and grammatical errors on the page - that shows a willingness to be professional, and an ability to accept criticism.

There are still a few lurkers in there - but I have faith they will be uncovered and corrected!

okay i have bought a wireless card from incredible connection and they say it will be able to connect to a wireless network.
I have done the scans / setup as per your website instructions and cannot see the SSID as mentioned on the website join section.

Is there coverage in my area yet ? i am setting up in Northcliff.

Now you moved to Northcliff. Shall I gather that you are not reading my replies. Do you still want me to reply. Seriously?

I was hoping to connect to Northcliff from Lynkfield and possibly later to Honeydewd . Hoping to get some gaming going with those three links .
