Annoyed FNB website users take to Twitter

You can't link a Paypal account to FNB anymore for withdrawals, that link on the FNB side no longer exists.

Yeah this part is driving me nuts. I'm going to have to call the paypal site to get help with this. It was one of the big draws for me.

I despised the new site from the moment I first opened it!

FNB, if I wanted to use a "mobile" site, I would have bought an iPad from you guys! I don't want to use a "mobile" site on my 24" widescreen!

They only complain because its changed and its new, not because of genuine layout issues, or increased complexity. Its still a simple design, and it'll take a little while to get used to. These people complaining are just lazy and short sighted, something changes from the usual and they just have a hissy fit.

It's not a hissy fit, it's genuine complaints about a website that used to work brilliantly before and now they turned it into a cheap tablet interface that was made for the blind apparently.

The Problems I have:

- Paypal Broken
- CSV Statements are always corrupt
- Can't buy Eskom Vouchers
- Can't link to my FNB Connect Account (which I have one number active and FNB can't find it)
- Layout broken in Google Chrome (sometimes)
- I keep getting error "E-69 Permission not granted" on just about everything I try and do. Have to logout and back in several times to get a transaction completed.

There are few other minor problems, but that is why I hate the new site, it all worked before the change....

Yip. The over sized font makes for an information poor layout.

So I'm lazy and short sighted because I'd rather use Chrome than IE? What a statement! Never knew the enlightened used IE.

Lol, wtf are you talking about?
I also use Chrome (IE is a brilliant browser to download Chrome), and I really dont have issues with the site. I can understand if stuff is broken by all means complain, but I trully think the majority of people complain purely because of aesthetics, they can't deal with change and have to think a bit more for the first initial uses.

You probably have not used the other products like instant accounting yet. Tabs are not visible, fonts are bigger than text boxes, floating boxes overlapping and blocking elements. Major alignment issues. Main website seems to work okish.

Also no warning saying that this site only works in IE = wasted time on calls to their call centre.

Fair enough, like I said, if stuff is broken by all means a complaint is completely warranted.

I keep trying to explain to people that UI forms part of the experience and can also be "broken" from a user perspective. It's probably one of the most important aspects of any system to the extent that a company is better off releasing an application with less functionality and a good UI than a complex UI with more functionality.

The site is not easy to use. My mother couldn't find out how to filter her transactions. That was something she did easily in the past but I had to figure it out and then show her. So much for:

Van Zyl adds that “customers love the intuitiveness of the new site and we received multiple mentions about it being exciting, cutting edge, innovative and unique.”

I have already posted a number of links in the other threads demonstrating why it's a bad design including a couple from Martin Fowler.

But often even if its a good UI its gets bad reviews just because its changed. My own example, apart from FNB I also bank with ABSA. I hated their most recent website UI design, and always opted for the old one. When they made it compulsory to use the new one it became apparent they had done an awesome job and made things a lot more streamlined. I only resisted because of change and familiarity.
Similarly, I dont enjoy any Apple products because the UI to me seems overly complex. But I know that its only because I havent put in the time to get familiar with it. Also I dont want to put in the time in case I want one :P

I think there are many people who have complained to FNB because of similar reasons to my own above. That said, there sure seems to be issues with the site and genuine sections of it are broken.

My PayPal account still shows on my FNB accounts page.

Firstly, this is a site where I work with my money. Changing the way I work with my money is going to make me feel uncomfy. "Is it safe", "Am I going to loose money" etc.
I still don't like it, maybe I'll come around after they fix all the bugs.

Add Password reset needed a call to the call centre to "fix" my settings in IE and add fnb to trusted sites, popup blocker et al and make changes to my security settings. doesn't work in chrome by default either.

Was sent multiple incorrect OTP's when trying to pay a fine, necessitating the password reset above.

Really didn't need that experience.
