Another Ford Kuga Fire

It will get worse in the future. Lithium batteries seems more flammable than petrol.

yip, maybe the Stig had the right idea all along with his full racing suit and Helmet.
maybe we should all be wearing those when driving a kuga/tesla or even a ford pinto.
:crylaugh:

Not exactly.
They are dangerous if handled incorrectly.
Incorrect handling falls into two categories:
1. Abuse i.e. short circuiting or draining it at an excessive rate
2. Improper charging

The latter is more common with the propensity to leave everything to China to design.

Would incorrect handling include being in a car accident?

Depends...
When I used to be an engineer, I did a lot of lab testing with these things.
They were tolerant of :
- Being pierced (think screwdriver or pins)
- Being heated to over 100 degrees C
- Being squashed (not crushed though)

But being charged incorrectly or short circuited... whoopsie... that was spectacular.

Here's the deal with a Li-ion battery.
It needs a specific charging cycle, and for that, you need intelligence. That means a charger is not some simple CV/CC arrangement, you invariably need some kind of micro running a program with an algorithm. And of course, the Far East don't exactly excel in either.

saw one in Rivonia off ramp the one time,
was filming from the opposite carriageway, fire was intense enough to set fire to the embankment.

even heard the Tires pop,

Seriously dude...why do you end each sentence with a comma? A full stop is the correct punctuation to use. Eish!!

Well I be damned, did not even know. Thanks. Must be honest I have not much interest in ford. Terrible to use a V6 in such a retro classic remake. Sies ford.
