What is a pledge? It is nothing, by the time you commit a rape you've long passed the 'oops, my bad' situation by a mile. I can make a pledge that I won't drink any more alcohol but what is it, other than self discipline?

I don't understand these pledges, these petitions, these protests where you dance and carry signs. You need to sit down and talk and sort the problem out at the roots. Your boyfriend can promise to stop cheating but if he doesn't, what use is a promise?

If a kid is raised right, this pledge is useless anyway.

South africa has enough people raping animals too, but it doesn't need to be pointed out to kids to make sure they don't do it

there is also the case of "out of sight, out of mind". tell kids to not rape, what will the rebellious kids do? when you make it an issue, it becomes a bigger issue

edit: same issue i have with teaching kids part of the Bible. i don't want my son learning about incest, murder, beheadings, now the governmnt wants to teach him what rape is and make him promise to not do it?
