Hi,

Iphone 4 - Orange UK.

Anyone on here do carrier unlocks, if so let me know!

Thanks,

I just did one yesterday by contacting Vodafone in the UK directly using the live chat on their website. I had my mate with me, who was the owner of the phone, and he just confirmed his details and now we wait up to 48 hours and plug into iTunes.

So if you know the guy who had it originally or where it came from, maybe it's worth hitting the Orange website and trying it out.

This was my second option after a google search...

....although I never fully checked them out to make sure they are not a scam site like so many. They wanted 55GBP. They look legit but do the homework first if that's how you want to go.

Yeah, its not my phone. I did ask the person if they have an account as Orange charge 20 pounds to unlock vs the 105 that most other places want.

Phone orange directly. Don't bother going through one of these websites as all they do is charge for something that is free. We didn't have access to the original owner of a jailbroken locked iPhone (no it was not stolen), and after upgrading the OS (stupid move) the phone was locked and bricked, and we couldn't jailbreak it again (no jailbreak for the new OS at the time).

Tried to phone orange directly, but as we didn't have the original phone number or SIM card, Orange wouldn't help. We then tried one of these sites, but they are either a scam, or can't do anything that you can't do directly with Orange. Money wasted.

The unlock process is free with the service provider... don't spend money with one of these sites, you are unlikely to benefit.

Hope you have access to the original owner... else no joy.

They charge? Must be a new policy.

I had an iPhone locked to AT&T and after alot of google searching,
I came across an article where this guy emailed AT&T and they unlocked it.

I tried, emails the guys and after 24Hours it was unlocked.

So do some searching and check if orange does the same.

A guy I'm working with here in Senegal had his current Orange UK contract iphone 5 unlocked when he was home on break a couple of months ago.

He said he just called and explained he's working out of the UK for a while and wants to use a local sim. They did it and he never paid.

I had my iPhone unlocked by AT&T at no charge... I explained to them that I bought the phone via eBay and all they required from me was the invoice. The phone still had a year to go on contract. I think they might have made an exception as I explained the situation. It took about a week though as I requested it a day or two after AT&T started unlocking iPhones
